Florida AM DX's

Along the coast in the daytime, 690 WOKV from Jacksonville is a daily catch, usually as strong as a local.

On a good AM car radio on Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, I've pulled in WIOD 610AM out of Miami. I believe they are 5K day and night. WQAM Miami 560AM has a terrific signal for a 5000 watter non directional. At night 'QAM is 1000 watts non directional and I've heard Florida Marlins games in SC at night... granted a very weak signal, but amazing just the same.

I was scanning the AM dial in the Atlanta area tonight on 560 AM and was getting a reception from both WVOC in Columbia and WQAM in Miami. Looks like summertime is already here with the E-skip, not to mention the early season heat wave.

I was watching the movie "Big Trouble" on My Network the other night. Dennis Farina kept turning on 560 AM and hearing the same gag about Gators fans.

Did he not consider the possibility there are other stations in Miami?

Of course, the movie was very funny and this was just one of the reasons.
