WPIK is being sold to a new owner...not sure the name but they have no other stations in the Keys. They have fulltime spanish---sounds like a satellite delivered format. They are making an attempt.

The sale of US1 and Conch to Vox hasn't changed them much. hear some better sweepers on the air and the music is a bit more focused on US1. Same news and god-awful Biz Baz. They replace Laura with a guy from Marathon at their WAVE-FM up there. I was never a big Laura fan anyways so nothing lost there.

WGMX is still staellite soft A/c and awful. WFFG is still talk with some local shows thrown in and...still awful. WAVK and WWWK (Vox stations) are still Hot a/c and Oldies. Clear Channel is Clear Channel. I expect they will still be running Delilah and music as usual through the eye of the hurricane in the next few days. Not sure who the PD is with the Keys West CC stations but doesn't sound like anyone is home there much of the time.

That's it. They Keys are the Keys.

I don't believe the keys are surveyed.

Beginning Fall '05, Arbitron will be surveying the Keys (market definition: "The Florida Keys", consisting of "Upper Monroe County" and "Lower Monroe County"). It's market #291 and will be surveyed twice a year -- fall and spring.

Can't speak for anyone othe than CC stations, but Dave Harris still overseeing that cluster. You know, aside from a few VTers, they have live people there. A live morning show who rides out the hurricane on their rock station and although they go wall to wall with IOD when it gets really bad, they have a lot of updates and saftey info that they play specifically for the Keys.

I think if I were facing at cat 4 or 5, I'd put the damn thing on autopilot and get the hell out. At least during the worst of it. Those people have been through the worst of the 2 latest storms (as far as Fla is concerned) and they've done an excellent job of keeping people informed.

Bless you Ken and Hoebee.
