Florida's Best Rock?

Not sure I get the imaging here for WJRR. "Florida's Best Rock"? You are the only rock radio station left in Orlando, why not just focus on Orlando? 98 Rock in Tampa does a great job imaging and branding themselves as "Tampa Bay's Mighty 98 Rock".

Just sounds more local and intense. As far as Florida's best rock goes, there aren't many Active Rockers left. I know of WJRR, WXTB in Tampa, WFYV in Jacksonville. Any others?

Some decent classic rockers and alternative rockers but not much rock out there anymore.

JRR is the most powerful rock station in the state (or I should say, covers more real estate than any other). That & probably a nod to the tourons (after all, to most tourists, Orlando = Florida)

There's "99X" in Fort Myers.
The next question is today's difference between "Alternative" & "Active Rock".

Not sure about how much real estate they cover. 104.5 and 102.9 in Jax got some mighty big sticks too. They blanket North Florida, way out west to Tallahassee, not to mention a good chunk of Southern Georgia and the Atlantic Ocean.... ;D

Also, the Mighty 98 Rock in Tampa covers a HUGE portion of West Florida.

All class C equivalents.

JRR is up about 1600".

The Jax sticks are maybe just above 1000". They lose their punch 20 miles into GA & can barely be heard past Lake City.

XTB is about 1500" up, but throws most of her signal out over the Gulf.

98 Rock is a very powerful rock station. I can pick up that station from Sarasota to Ocala. From Winter Haven to Williston. (almost to Gainesville before I get Jacksonville's 97.9)

I think 98.7 Gater in Palm Beach is pretty strong too. That and Big1059 are the only two rockers left in SE Florida I believe.

Speaking as someone who lives and works in Volusia county, which WJRR covers, why would they want to alienate those people? Along with whatever other areas that signal serves.

And that signal makes it all the way to the beach with ease. My HD will often cut in and out depending on how the skip is that day but that signal is serving much more than just Orlando.

I guess Central* Florida's Best Rock just doesn't have the same lustre to it... or perhaps it's just too much to say. ???

I still don't get it, what's wrong with calling it 'Orlando's Rock Station' or "We rock Central Florida", etc....

Think of all the cool imaging, liners you could use SPECIFIC to Orlando and the beaches.....

I'm sure CC and all the suits have it figured out by now........... ;D

Agreed. If "Tampa Bay's Classic Hits Station" (107.3 The Eagle) can be considered a mouthful, what's wrong with "Orlando's Rock Station"?
