Flotown changes

Seems like the new GM at Cumulus is making moves. The NASH syndicated morning show takes over for Tony & Kris on Monday. Looks like Florence is holding steady at a grand total of three local morning shows: Fisher and Maddie on 103X, Mudflap and Palmer on Eagle, and that Ken Ard show on Millers talk station. Not much to choose from.

Whether it is one or two hosting any given Morning Show, there is always Morning Show Math: Hopefully they are working 6-10, as slated in the diaries, and if not, there is Boob #1! Count the #number of songs per hour or time the music, then time their banter. If they were not entertaining, then they wouldn't have gotten the slot, in the first place. If it is 60% music versus 40% gum flappin' then it is that Burnt playlist. They did well, in the beginning, but that was awhile back...probably the same list today, as they were given then. If they Talk-Talk-Talk,...60-70-85% of the time, then they are their own listeners, and the audience is merely eavesdropping on what they do, which has no starch. It is not hard to factor it all in, fix it, and keep them on the payroll.

The funny thing to me is you never hear black folks complain about syndicated morning shows. Steve Harvey is the best known, and no one ever says anything bad about him. Rick Smiley is #1 in Florence. Would the OP listen to WYNN or WZTF if they had a local morning show? Good question.

Maybe it's that I'm not black, but he gets on my nerves.

That's just TV.

And I don't even watch any entire episodes of his shows.

Anyone know if 93.7 FM is still "Hot" AC, since no one is mainstream?

I worked in both Radio & TV. So, I have heard & seen it all! For TV, I call them Slants, where others term "Closet Racists". There are plenty of them, with their own race, the Slant. Then, there is appointed "Geniuses", such as Oprah, and Kelly Ripa. These talking heads don't know anything! They just have the skill to host.

Steve Harvey I can let slide. He has no more common sense to give advice than someone's fat aunt. He is a comedian, that has the skill to host. Craig Ferguson, and Drew Carey are also in the little wicker basket of Giggle.

As for me, I could not care less about what Whoopie has to say about anything.

Just today, a slant came on Jesus, as the Shroud was digitized, and they rendered an childhood image of Christ.

I am of Scottish decent, but I have the sense to know that Jesus was not Blond & Blue-eyed. Christ was a Jew, not black nor white, more burnt orange than white, but not brown or black. The Jewish blood covered all sin, as is holds traits of all. Most Artist's renderings are false! Give someone a live mic, and only they know what they are about to dump into it!

Well,...you put down your juice box....just long enough to type three whole words. Jethro, you must be exhausted!

Brevity is the soul of wit; some people are happy to settle for half. (What, no tranny jokes? You're slipping, sCooter...)

Nash FM is Corp no matter how you look at it. To them I don't think local morning shows are of any greater importance than network morning shows. I disagree with that since localism is of key importance. When we had Cousin Lee in the morning on WLRE Radio nothing could compare or take the place of our morning shows back then. He was live, funny, local, and cared about his listeners and the station. With his 50 years of radio experience skill level and just down right country personallity you don't get any better than that. He is missed.

Name someone local who is available, willing to work early mornings, get paid average money, and will be funny, knowledgeable, and care about listeners. Give me a name of someone. It's not as easy as you think.

SCOOTER LESLEY!.....However, I would not even ask my Attorney to look at the offer, unless I, much like the Syndi-shows,....was solely in charge/responsible of/for.....all four hours; 6a-10a. The Salary & the Benefits would be very negotiable. No one wants to work their Ass off, and have the out-come of that ratings book hindered by what some Pencilneck Consultant or Corp PD assumes to be right! If I am not in control of my Destiny, then my Journey is not afoot!

Nope!...Dudley, wrong again, as usual. You ask, and this Board answers you, but it is not the attention that you want. I Resigned, left Radio, to do other...more important projects. I am Debt Free, and don't need the money. It bruises your ego, and breaches your insecurity that the truth is before you. If the offer is legit, I would consider having my Attorney view such. It is me, and others like me, that could....again(!) work for the business, and deliver a better ratings book. John Boy Crenshaw is another one that could deliver. Most Programmers today simply don't have the answers, and like you, fear the ones that do. Then...there is the Boob mistakes, like MAGIC allowing Lee Alexander to leave, when the fail was the Burnt Playlist. The business is going to Boob, until there is no longer a business to Boob in!

"Hi, I'm your next morning guy. I want to play and do what I want because I know better than you, station owner and manager, do."

No wonder they kicked his bulging tukas to the curb.

And I am sure it's your same "attorney" that has had to hire additional staff because employers are ringing the phones off the hook to hire you. Or perhaps its from defending you from all the workplace harassment and hostile work environment suits. If you acted at the station like you do here, I bet HR and employment counsel were kept extremely busy.

The only thing around here that is suffering cue burn is your same rant which you state in various different ways to try to hide the fact that it's the SOS.

Here's kinda the sad fact of life for you, "Scooter." The people that own the station get to run it they way they wish. Good, bad, indifferent. Brilliant decisions or bad decisions. It's theirs to do with as they wish. As you should have discovered throughout your "career," if you disagree with the owners of the business, you get kicked to the curb, with your box of detritus, air horn, Cheryl Tiegs poster, and Weird Al casettes bouncing along the sidewalk after you.

Well,....Dudley, I seem to have you, and your intern, JethroM, so rattled that at any minute y'all could just soil your undergarments. I don't need to work for you, and fix what collectively is broken. Everyone knows that I could, but there is neither merit nor money to gain. You don't have the authority to make an offer. Listen again to my main point: You allow Sydi-shows to have total responsibility for the content of 3-hours or 4-hours for JB&B, but you repel at the thought of a local Air Talent having the same liberty. The two shows on MAGIC & MY....flip-flop & die daily, and you keep them. Also, the embryo tutelage of some Pencilneck that believes that Morning Drive can get it done in only three hours, and/or Boobing around 5am, when that is as worthless as tits on a boar hog! So, what is the diff....of a local HUMAN getting the say on all four hours of 6a-10a, since it is his/her ass, if he/she fails?

I'm all for the idea of local air talent getting a chance. Unfortunately, by definition, that would exclude you. You've been out of it so long, you don't even have nostalgia going for you any more. Whatever audience you ever did have is either dead or have done their best to forget you ever existed. Scooter who??

PS to Dude: Don't insult Weird Al. HE at least has some talent.

Delusional. At least you are collecting social security, I suppose.

And frankly, I do have the authority to make an offer. But it certainly would never be to you, or someone of your piss-poor attitude and out of touch concept of what broadcasting or contemporary music is. We're programming for the Millenials and the next generation of radio who are willing to support an intelligent, fun presentation. That excludes people who's frame of reference ended with arena rock and UV lights.

And for the record, we don't have a morning "show." Traffic, news, weather. That's it. We let Mike Allen across the street put people to sleep. The only difference between you and Mike is that Mike is still employed, for now.
