Fly 92.9 ratings are up...SKY HIGH!

Just saw that Fly 92.9's winter book was a 5.8, beating clustermate WDHT/Hot 102.9 by a tenth of a point. Also, they're only a point away from WMMX's 6.8. This is the highest WGTZ's ratings have been since the "glory days" of Z-93 back in the 80s through the 90s. In one book they've almost DOUBLED the ratings of Z-93. Hats off to Mainline. 8)

I expected a bump up in the WGTZ ratings. They invested in a lot of promotion, to include expensive TV ads. Time will tell if their format will last and stay at a 5+ share.

The "Jack" format saw initially good ratings in many cities, but declined once the hype ended.

I think the biggest news is that WHIO-AM is at the top! An increase of over 5 points in 6 months. An increase that is not attributable to a heavy advertising campaign.

In part, the Ohio primary.

Fly will do well. I dont know if it will always be a 5+ in the 12+ demo, but in sales, the station has already doubled what it did in the entire last year, and that isnt too shabby!

With Steve Weed's changes to the music and with the addition of the John O'Hurley content, I expect a very strong spring and summer.

Steve Weed... still smokin' after all these years!

IMO, Fly's ratings have nowhere to go but up. Fly is a great station. I catch myself listening for hours. Weed will continue to "Smoke" the competition! ;D

That's strange...

According to Miller Kaplan, they are down 19% for the whole building. Let me also point out that media monitors consistently show they have virtually no spots on the stations that are not P.I. (per inquiry).

I don't want to take anything away from their success, but the truth is the truth.

Sometimes...the truth hurts.

19% for the whole building

Thats the whole building. They sliced back inventory on HOT and are losing ground on WROU.

An easy way to fix this is to put Urban back on 92.1(They could easily call it U92 again-They have the exact same calls as they did in 91-03) and make 102.9 a full-blown CHR. Urban AC on 92.1 was a Radio One idea that isn't working.

Now if just Fly follows through and hires that "flight crew" they keep harpin' about.

That's exactly what needs to happen.

Ultimately Mainline should purchase the Jazz outlet at 106.5. That would then allow them to mobilize a CHR format on 102.9, Urban on 92.1 and Urban AC/Jazz on 106.5.

Exactly. Just do Urban AC on 106.5, that's pretty much what Smooth Jazz is these days anyway!

Guess I just wonder why you want to do an urban format in the middle of the cornfields on a tower that's north of Greenville.

I doubt all of those spots on Fly are PIs..but they do seem kinda light on any local direct ads right now.
