Fly 92 No Longer Top 40??

Shouldn't Fly 92 officially be named Hot AC and compete with The Buzz 1045, rather than be Top 40, which they really haven't been for the past upteen months?

In response to your comment on Fly 92 officially becoming Hot AC and competing with the Buzz...does it really matter? In this age of Top 40, stations across the country are competing against MANY different formats, that's the beauty of it. Compare Fly 92's playlist to many other CHR's and you won't see that many differences. In my small opinion, I see no need for a station like Fly to make such an "official" switch.

You're right....it all depends on the market. What's top 40 in one is Hot AC in another, or for that matter some may be downright Rhythmic Top 40 to others.
You wanna prime example? The River is considered HOT AC..ever take a look at their playlist? In ANY other market that is considered an "oldies" format!

There's your explanation....

Named? By whom? The Naming Commission? Fly 92 is already competing with The Buzz. It is not like the GM at FLY is going to call the Buzz Gm and say, "Hey (his name here), just to let you know, we have been named Hot AC by the Naming Committee, and will be competing with you going forward". Some people in radio (and radio wannabes) tend to pigeon hole stations into an inflexible, structured "format". To some, it is more understandable that way.

Fly 92 Is Still A PURE CHR/Pop Station

A bit more Adult friendly then in the past (so as to distance itself from Kiss and Jamz, and hang onto its heritage) but a very balanced CHR. New music, the big hits, Currents, a bit of Gold, and a good balance between music genres.

Here's what Fly played the past 2 hours:
Inoj "Time after Time"
Fallout Boy "Sugar We're Going Down"
Rhianna "SoS"
Christina Aguilera "Beautiful"
Goo Goo Dolls "Better Days"
Kanye West "Gold digger"
James Blunt "you're Beautiful"
Natasha Bedingfield "Unwritten"
Crossfade "Cold"
Gwen Stefani "Crash"
Green Day "Wake Me Up When September Ends"
Puussycat Dolls "Stick Witchu"
Tonic "If You Could Only See"
Beyonce "Check On It"
Weezer "Beverly Hills"
Mariah Carey "Don't Forget About Us"
Killers "Sombody Told Me"
Ne-Yo "So Sick"
Green Day "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
Ashlee Simpson "L.O.V.E."
All American Rejects "Dirty Little Secret"
Rhianna "Pon De Replay"
Lifehouse "Blind"
Click Five "Just The Girl"
Rob Thomas "Ever The Same"
Nina Sky "Move Your Body"
