FLY & KISS

KISS is the better station musically. And let's face it, that's what matters! They are the only true Top40 station in the market. If there was a bigger signal behind that station Albany would have a new #1 Hit Music Station. Then again that might happen anyway if FLY keep heading in the direction that they have been for about the past year or so.

Just because YOU don't care for hip hop doesn't mean that they are not focused and playing the hits they're supposed to. Personal tastes don't enter analysis.

I'm amazed how well KISS does with that crappy signal of theirs. Whoever decided it would be a good idea to transmit 4.5KW smack in the middle of 2 mountian ranges needs their head checked... multipath interference is worse than weak reception.

I can't believe you guys aren't bringing up 96.3 Jamz as well, which recently evolved to CHR/Pop albeit still with a heavy and healthy Rhythmic lean. Think Hot 107.9 Syracuse or Channel 955 Detroit, or even the way 102.3 Kiss FM sounded at this time last year. WKKF right now is on par with the national Pop charts and is musically very close to 106.1 Kiss FM Dallas. Meanwhile, heritage Fly 92 leans more Adult but is still a CHR/Pop, and similar in sound to 93 Q Syracuse or Hot 105.3 Grand Rapids.
The fact that this city has THREE CHRs when most markets are lucky to have one is amazing.
BTW, 96.3 Jamz has an even smaller signal then Kiss and yet it's now pulled AHEAD of the other 2 CHRs with nearly a 5 share. All 3 CHRs together combine for over a 12 share.

My comment about JAMZ..

Sorry to write this, but ever since Sugarbear ws terminated, the station has gone downhill. It's supposed to be Today's Hip Hop and R&B, not Today's Fly 92, part 2. I turned it on the other day and heard Pink! If I wanted to hear Pink I would turn on Fly, Kiss or The Saint (remember, they play anything! :)

Jamz made a mistake and a dis-service their loyal fans, whom went to another channel..Take it from a guy that did mornings on an Urban station for 3 of the 6 years..I know this..

Now, we have 4 CHR stations...Great!

WVCR 88.3 The Saint is definitely not a CHR, and hasn't been one for a while now.
Jamz seems to be othe right track based on the ratings trends that just came out. They're playing Pop records by Pink, Maroon 5, Avril, Eliott Yamin, Rihanna's "Shut Up & Drive", and Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry".

Arbitron is evil.

Anyone take a listen to Flys new afternoon show today?

Should be curious to see how these rock guys do in a top 40 format.

And jock-wise who likes what CHR better?

Jamz is a Top 40 Ryhthmic and doing well for themselves actually. I do agree that when Sugar Bear left the station was headed down the wrong path, but as of late they are right on track for what they want to accomplish. Either way both Jamz and KISS will the top 2 dogs in the Top 40 race unless FLY makes some changes that are worth making. The changes that have been made at 92.3 were not the ones that needed to be made.
