Flyers and Sixers games on CN8 The Comcast Network

Here we go again. CN8 in the Philly/Harrisburg markets are airing the Flyers and Sixers games yet again this season because both teams are playing at the same time. Why isn't channel 57 WPSG is not airing these games in case of something like this? The station is so committed to the low rated CW programming and not sports, come on.

I would imagine it has nothing to do with CW57, but with Comcast Spectacor. They make the ad revenue rather than giving it to CBS.

One would imagine that the owner of the team that also owns the cable company and the channels would like to profit from it.

It's simple economics.

Be glad there are still a few hockey, basketball and baseball games on free tv in Philly. It doesn't occur in all markets.

Julius, you have been told the answer to this repeatedly. You don't like it? Fine. But it doesn't change the facts. CW 57 can't just pick up a game that's not in their contract. That's kind of the definition of a contract.

What about if the over the air contracts of the 2 teams moved to channel 17, would we see this problem be resolved or will some of the games still air on The Comcast Network?

Reason I bring this thread up because Flyers-Hurricanes is airing on CN8 tonight at 7 PM, one of many Flyers and Sixers games that will be airing on this channel this season and plus this channel CN8 in its current form will be going away at the end of the year.

Uh huh, and it's still the same answer, Julius. There are a number of regional sports networks that set up overflow channels for overlaps; it just so happens the rightsholder (and team owner) in Philadelphia has a channel available already for overflow. And no matter how much you dislike it, CbS has obligations to the CW that define how much they can pre-empt. Grow up.
