Flyers' Jim Jackson joins the Phillies as pre and post game host

I don't know whether to say if this is another "out there" move by Rob Brooks or not. I like the move personally. Putting it all out on the table, JJ had a tough task when he came to town in replacing the legendary Jim Jackson, and he's met the task fairly well. Maybe the Phils are the playoff team JJ will have a broadcasting role for this year.

Did you mean Gene Hart?

Yes, I did mean Gene Hart. Jim Jackson's not a legend...my apologies for giving him too much of a prefix there...I meant to say "when he replaced the legendary Gene Hart". Thanks Julius.

Gene Hart was/is a legend. While not at Gene Hart level, I think Jim Jackson has done a great job as the Flyers play by play man. I am glad that he is not leaving the Flyers to join the Phillies (yet).

Jackson's schedule is almost as crazy as the player's schedule. He is on the road often, works late, etc... He is either crazy for not wanting to take advantage of the hockey off season, or he is extremely passionate about the profession, and can't keep away. It will be interesting to see/hear how he transitions into baseball.

Wil, I think this is a case of Jim keeping himself busy. The hockey offseason can be long, especially if you're announcing a team as woeful as our Fly Guys. Also, a lot of broadcasters really need to work year round for various reasons (financial, to stay sharp, love of the business, etc.), so I think that plays a role as well. Hence you see many baseball broadcasters broadcast other sports in the baseball offseason.

I'll try to say what I said earlier, only getting it right this time, lol. Jim had to fill the shoes of a legend in Gene Hart in the mid 1990s, and while Jim's not a legend yet, he is certainly a very solid and capable broadcaster, so I do indeed like the move. Did I foul anything up that time?
