FLZ Night Guys

Who are these new night guys on FLZ? Did Wacker leave? Seems like it's been a revolving door at that station for night-time personalities.

People are auditioning for nights. Wacker left to pursue a career in Marketing. It was in All Access about a month ago.

Well, it sounds like "Ratboy & Staypuff" are here to stay. I heard they were big up in Philly on Q102, but I'm not really fond of their style so far.

Ratboy and Staypuff have been fixtures on WIOQ/Philadelphia for years. I was in Fort Myers on Thursday night, and tuned into WFLZ and was shocked to hear both of them on the air. My big fear is that they will voicetrack their show from Philly. Both are club jocks and do many appearances in the Philadelphia area. Believe it or not, I was in Philly this past weekend, and Ratboy and Staypuff were doing their usual Saturday night shift and also plugging Philly club appearances. The reason why they probably have little caller interaction is because they are doing their 'FLZ show from Philadelphia via voicetrack.

What has happened at WFLZ is a travesty. They once had MJ/BJ mornings, Jeff Thomas in the afternoons, and the legendary Bubba the Love Sponge at night. Now it looks like they have BOTH afternoons and evenings voicetracked. Pitiful!

Well unless the guys I've run into in the Clear Channel kitchen several times in the past 2 weeks are someone else, I'm pretty sure they're live in Tampa at least a couple times a week.

I would agree that I don't care for Ratboy and playstuff, I just don't think they blend in with FLZ, they seem to be taking the FLZ jocks to a different level. They seemed pretty live last week when I was listening to them taking calls, it could be they have set up a live studio in Philly similiar to Kane's situation, Kane is not voice tracked as one comment had mentioned, Kane does the FLZ show from his Home in Washington where he has built a studio in his home plugged into FLZ.

While this technically means Kane isn't voice-tracked in the traditional sense, it shows that he is not live and local. I think the previous post was trying to make the point that not having afternoon drive live and local on FLZ, once the FM crown jewel of Jacor and Clear Channel Tampa Bay, is a bad thing.

I can't agree more, as it's just another sign of where this business is headed.

Wow, you guys/girls sure do alot of assuming...I'll set it straight...

they (rat and puff) are close friends of mine....they ARE live 24/7 in tampa. They still track a weekend shift at Q102 Rat and puff were in Philly this past weekend finishing thier moving...uhaul and car transporting. ALL thier family is still in Philly/Jersey. Theres nothing more to speculate about.

I will take your word, but having been in both the Tampa and Philly area in the past week, impressions were that they were tracked on WFLZ and live on WIOQ. They were even plugging an appearance at a Philly club...which makes it seem unlikely that they were getting ready to move to Tampa. Oh well. Either way, WFLZ is a far cry from its glory days.

I listened to Rat Boy and Stay Puff on Philly's Q102 last night (www.q102.com), and they were once again plugging one of their live appearances in a Philly-area club (this one was for last night itself). I find it hard to believe that they are flying up to Philly every weekend. Something tells me the majority of their work on FLZ must be tracked....

Why not? Tom Joyner flew back and forth from Dallas to Chicago every day, for how many years?

Given the current rate of pay at most Clear Channel properties - even in large markets - I doubt that flying between Tampa and Philly would be affordable for two jocks.

Re: Can We

Can we put the claims to rest now? As an FLZ employee I can officially say: Ratboy & Stay Puff are officially LIVE in Tampa and holding it down well. Not only are they live, but they also brought an extra personality to the show known as 99 Cent Man. Just as Kane is live in DC, and still makes frequent appearances in Tampa; RB & SP will do the same for their Philly gig.

Enough with the guessing already. THEY ARE IN THE BUILDING!!! You have way too much time to think about the what if's and what was. Rat and Puff are in Tampa. They are live and they are local. Let that be the end of it.

I follow them on the air every night. I see them. They are in the studio and do a good job of it.

They were in Philly to move the last of their stuff down. They VT their stuff on the weekends in Philly so they can still promote their clubs and stuff like that. If you want to get anymore into their personal business I suggest you give them a call in the studio. (813)990-9393 or if you are cheap (800)409-9393.
