FM 104.5, License to Cover

I'm pretty sure that they were doing OK, but this will help a lot due to coverage issues with the AM, especially at night. Where I live in meadow vista, when they go to night pattern, they get hammered by distant co-channels. The FM quite good here. It was great listening to them officially launch it yesterday at noon. Big celebration and party on air, along with many of the local show hosts, business people etc. Folks are very excited, and I am also excited for them. They are my local station, and they serve the community pretty well.

Oh, that's cool. I wasn't able to listen to the sign-on live, but I listened to the recording of the sign-on posted on the KAHI website. Sounded like a blast! They talked to engineering, counted down, and then interviewed folks, all while having a party in the background. Very cool! Haven't had much chance to listen to the FM. Anyone here able to say how well that FM signal gets out towards Sac?

I can hear it in Citrus Heights

Kinda iffy in Grass Valley. I can easily listen by moving the antenna around on a portable radio, but there's lots of interference here from the HD of 104.3.

This station is kind of interesting. It's owned by Immaculate Heart Radio yet it does not have the Catholic radio programming of the other Immaculate Heart stations. IIRC the original owners of KAHI applied for an expanded-band AM signal and were awarded 1620 KHz. That signal does have the standard Immaculate Heart programming. Not sure what the business arrangement is, but KAHI is obviously programmed and operated like a local station, serving the Auburn area.

If I recall, the station is operated by the KAHI Corporation, under an LMA and owned by IHR. The new translator K252DO appears to be owned by KAHI Corp.
