FM 99.3 Austin-KLGO

I just heard a legal id on KIXL 970. They did an id for FM 99.3 KLGO.

Their website has been changed with KLGO on the top and KIXL is not listed.

I checked and they are simulcasting on 99.3 FM.
______________

99.3 is no longer country?
______________

unless there was a translator up there there was one in Thorndale KJAZ 99.3, that may be a diffrent one in Austin now.
______________

99.3 is pretty much inaudible in all but the furthest east parts of austin, round rock and pflugerville. Its format will never have any impact on austin ratings. But sheeesh, I know Austin is the heart of the bible belt, but do we really need another religious station on the FM dial??

Well I never realy got to listen to 99.3 when it was country, hated to see it go, Yeah, I dont realy see how well another religous station on the FM dial will do in Austin, but who knows?
______________

Austin is hardly the heart of the bible belt. The fact is quite the opposite considering how liberal Austin is. "Do we really need another 'religious' station on the FM dial??" Well, for years there's only been ONE (KNLE). Sure, there's the LP at 106.7, so you can claim there's one and a half. Not sure what your fear (for lack of a better word) is with "religious" stations, but I don't think that the sign on of 99.3 is going to make the world stop turning.

I can get 90.1 FM from San Antonio loud and clear in South Austin. They have shows that I do not hear on Austin stations such as drama/stories. Also some evangelists that are not in Austin.

As far as "Bible Belt." There may be more religous families to the east of I-35 and then into the counties east of Austin, than in the city of Austin itself. Maybe serving Austin from the east with the neighboring communities is a good idea.

Ah, um, perhaps you meant another frequency? 90.1 in SA is most definitely KSYM. It's a great college radio station that -- to my ears at least -- really gets radio's mandate to sound local but still be entertaining. And in South Austin you should be hearing the longtime pirate on 90.1.

I could be wrong on the frequency. Maybe it is 90.9. I only listen to it occasionally.

Re: KIXL Announcement

I just heard that all the KIXL 970 programs will simulcast until January. In January they will only be on 99.3FM.

I assume that KIXL will have Roman Catholic programming in January.
______________
