FM Afternoon Hosts

Well.. Who do you think is the best afternoon host FM Dial? We all talk AM.. Lets talk FM.

93.3 Coast Fm- Its a joke!
92profm- Davey- probably the best jock in the area- Old Fashion but natural. Talks normal.
B101- another joke
WFHN- Fun 107- AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL-- He is so AWFUL! He yells into the mic. He needs to go back to school; Someone needs to give him a mic check. Tell him. " Remember, make it conversational"- I can see people turning away from this station because of it.
Lite Rock- B- ; Good for the age its hits
Hot 106- Best Jock on that station- Doesnt put on this awful fakeness.

Wizz, you worked at B 101, until they let you go right? just wondering.

Fun 107 awful in the afternoon?....hmmm, tell that to the 20 share they got in their target demo in the afternoon....SHOUT ON I SAY

Davey Morris the best jock in the area?OK he isn't awful but when you do nothing but liner card day after day hour after hour it's easy to work on delivery. If he didn't work at a station where longevity is built in he would be one more anonymous jock changing jobs every two years.

Maybe time for Robby to make a decision? Is it Cat Country for the rest of his life or a major market because the jobs opportunities and future for anyone good or bad in Providence are limited.

In terms of an actual disc jockey then it's Robby all the way. Yeah he's goofy but he uses a lot of the techniques top 40 jocks did in the 70s and 80s. Why he's still in this market? I think he knows he's most effective in the state he grew up in. I don't think he would have ended up doing country if some other stations like B101 hadn't gone the direction they went in terms of draining all the personality. PRO-FM afternoons would be his only other option in Providence at this point.

And I do agree on Charles. He delivers content and regardless of the directions he goes in it's what his audience expects of him. Maybe it's wrapped up in an entertainment package but underneath the entertainment aspect he's as non-phony as he's allowed to be. When you come right down to it the talk show hosts in the market are in the entertainment business too so Charles isn't the only one. He's just better at it.

Robby Bridges has worked in major markets such as New York & Boston. He has done nights at PRO-FM.
Maybe he is comfortable at WCTK because of his ties here in RI? And there is nothing wrong with that.

Charles has been rehashing the same spiel for sometime now, it never changes, I heard his numbers are slipping as HJY's numbers have been dropping over the last several books. May be time for achange. I listened the other day and it was absolutley mind numbing, he was babbling and his little stooge was agreeing with everything just hear his own voice...Time to close the doors to the 420 club.

If he changes, then he won't be Charles anymore & there's no point in that. Maybe he needs a different platform...like talk radio again. HJY probably can't bring in new listeners, especially on the younger end of their target. Everybody knows the station is there & what they do. Either you like them or you don't. Neither drive-time show appeals to anyone who is neutral towards the station.

My 2cents:

92PRO-FM - Davey Morris - he's boring, stale, voicetracked on most breaks, and does nothing but liners. His show has little to no prep involved.
HOT-106 - Joey Foxx - he sounds like an untrained club dj who got a radio gig. He loves to hear himself talk.
93.3 COAST FM - David O'Leary - I know he's gone now, but he was a good jock on station that is on its way out. This shift will end up being some part-timer in the building.
94 HJY - Charles - he is doing the same thing he's always done - you either like it or you don't. Scarpetti sounds out of place with Charles and isn't very good at 2 person jocking. I think Charles would sound better if they actually took the time to find him the right partner instead of just giving him the most conveinient person in the building to push his buttons (literally or figuritvely)
FUN 107 - Michael Rock - He's just trying to fit in with his audience and sound hip.

Other than having to replace their main people at HJY (Paul, Al, and Charles) I think you'll see that any new people are going to be the result of convenience.

FUN 107 - Michael Rock - He's just trying to fit in with his audience and sound hip.

YOU NAILED IT! VOTED AWFULLLLLLL BY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!...I WAS GOOD FRIENDS WITH ERICA KAY... THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER SCREWED HER THE WAY THEY DID!.... SHE BELONGS THERE.... I ALSO MISS DAVID DURAN HE WAS GOOD

Lite 105's Charlie Jefferds. Perfect fit for the format.

Erica Kay left Fun-107 for a f/t morning show gig in Florida. How is that a step down?

David Duran is PD at 96.3 The Rose. How is that a step down?

Michael Rock does a fine job. However, those night remote breaks (Bar 908) that get aired. The levels are too damn
hot & sound awful. Use a landline!!

What???.....too bad, you were on a half way decent streak with semi valid points....now, back to coming off as someone who doesn't have a clue.....screwed erica kay?.....how exactly was that done?.....and whats wrong with fitting in with the audience?....rock is a far better jock than morris when it comes to someone who cares about what goes on the air....maybe not the best radio voice, but no one has needed that since the 80s......rock's numbers are strong, as a matter of fact so are middays, mornings and nights....so things should be left alone there....they have people on the air now who have been there for YEARS and the audience i assume is VERY comfortable with the familiarity of who they hear.....duran left for a PD job, and my prediction is that someday he will return to Fun 107

oh boy..don't throw my name in there...I enjoyed my time at Fun 107. I still miss it..the format..the voxpro..the listeners...Things didn't work out as planned, but everything happens for a reason and it was time to move on for me....

You moved on to much nicer weather at a station who gave you morning drive! You made the right move. Thanks to streaming everybody wins! :)

Good going, E! Put some people in place....memo to all, if you aren't the person, don't attribute anything to them (like saying they got screwed over)! You never know when she might have a chance to come back this way and work for them (or Citadel in general) and you've got lunkheads like Wizz saying that she got screwed over....and that's not just for Erica; but goes for everyone.

THANKS SO MUCH, Top of the Pops!

I was beginning to wonder if Geoff Charles and Charlie Jefferds were one and the same??? ???

I had the pleasure of working with Charlie during the 920-AM, WJAR days. Fortunately, I kept the master tapes of the commercials and promos he recorded for me. Hopefully, he still does some of those character voices...along with his own? Without a doubt, Charlie Jefferds is one of the BEST BROADCASTERS in New England! :)
