FM Antenna Fire

Now here's something you don't see every day. An FM transmitting antenna on fire after a lightning strike. The site is WRKI-FM in Brookfield/Danbury, CT. I sure hope they have an auxiliary antenna on that tower. It's kind of surprising that we haven't seen something like this in Roxborough.

Rene, I believe they do. They certainly were at reduced power. Normally that beast gets out (and I can get them on the car radio in the part of CT I live in outside their main coverage area), but the last few days - forget it. They also have a booster in Norwalk and a booster in Bridgeport.

I'm guessing there aren't any radomes near the top of the towers in Roxbrough. Is that true? The RKI-FM fire was a radome fire.

This is probably a better suited thread for Engineering or even Connecticut.
 
Oh, I don’t think so. It’s fine right where it is, and it's here for a reason. You may observe, thread was started by one of Philly’s finest engineers. One whom is part of the great history of the medium, in this town and beyond. And quite frankly, where he points out a measure of interest, you're just lucky to be part of that observation, and share in that discussion. So, observe, and learn something. It's never too late, though you may feel otherwise.

Oh, I think I would've picked up on the same information you suggest is imparted if it was posted on one of the other boards-with all due respect.
 
Someone I showed the picture to thought it would be a great idea to photoshop it so that the smoke spelled out "SOS!" :D In the immortal words of Larry the Cable Guy, "Now that's funny right there. I don't care who ya' are."
