Oooh ....

My at-the-time girlfriend on Long Island says she heard WIHS 104.9.
And I never heard them from Queens NYC.
And I was supposed to be the heavy hot-dog DXer of the two.
Grrr.
So I got the ♫ Nyahh nah, nih-nyahh nah ♫ treatment.

You listed the FM dial, Marc. But how far back do you go with the AM dial, if at all?

WSNG 610 from Torrington CT was the one-and-onliest Connecticut AM station I never heard from Queens (near JFK airport). There was too much WIP and WVNJ 620 violin splash.

WSNG/WTOR once was on 1490. That occupation of the channel was, perhaps, the reason that WTXL 1490 outside of Springfield MA had to be one of the few directional AM graveyarders. Folks from up that way would know that arrangement better than I would.

Ever hear WSNG/WTOR, Marc -- either via 1490 or 610 ?

About ten days ago we caught a top-of-the-hour ID off WDRC 1360. It proclaimed WDRC-AM, WDRC-FM HD2, WMMW Meriden, about twenty other stations, and WTOR Torrington!

WSNG 610 Torrington has been simulcasting WDRC 1360 since December 1996 back when WDRC was Adult Standards. WSNG had gone dark in February 1996 due to financial problems and WDRC ended up buying them. In 1997 WDRC added WWCO 1240 Waterbury to its network and in 1998 (or 99) WMMW 1470 Meriden. They dumped Standards for a music format called "The Best of Everything" in 2000 and flipped to talk in 2002 as "The Talk of Connecticut". 102.9 HD3 was added in 2012.

I'll post my AM list later this afternoon.

I'm only 31 so I don't remember WTOR on 1490.

You mentioned WTXL 1490 West Springfield, Mass. According to Joseph Rizza their operations manager the station is haunted. A guy who worked there in the 60s (I believe) killed himself in the basement. Today they are owed by Davidson Media Group and is a Spanish Variety station called La Nuevea Popular 1490 WACM. Also in the building is sister station WSPR Power 1270 which is Spanish Tropical. WSPR is simulcast on WXCT 990 AM in Southington, CT 10AM-6AM Monday-Friday. (Previously they simulcasted 24 hours a day, but another station in Hartford added the syndicated Luis Jimenez Show, so they had to stop simulcasting morning drive).
