FM bandscan conducted Oct 14th 2013 in Gig Harbour, WA ( Plus a question)

Hey guys, I had the opportunity to do a bandscan yesterday afternoon from Peacock Hill in Gig Harbour, WA, that I have had decent luck with in the past. Unfortunately, I did not have a high quality radio such as a Grundig, therefore my car radio had to be used.

Without further adieu, here is what I picked up at 2pm

88.1 KWAO
88.3
88.5 KPLU
88.7
88.9
89.1 Calvery Chapel Radio (I believe Crainbebo specified this signal comes from Gold Mountain)
89.3 KGHP (faint, Fox Island translator)
89.5 KNHC
89.7
89.9 KGHP (main transmission site on Key Peninsula)
90.1
90.3 (faint KEXP?)
90.5
90.7 Tried for KSER, but KVTI was way too strong
90.9 KVTI
91.1
91.3 KBCS
91.5
91.7 KXOT
91.9
92.1 CBU - Victoria (received, but extremely faint, disappointing)
92.3 No KGON, squashed by KQMV
92.5 KQMV
92.7
92.9 KISM (would be very clear if not for KGHO translator on same frequency)
93.1
93.3 KUBE
93.5
93.7 KGHP (no KANY what so ever. I wanted to try for CJJR, but KGHP was too close)
93.9
94.1 KMPS
94.3
94.5 KXRY (no sign of KMIH translator, if they still have one on this freqency)
94.7
94.9 KUOW
95.1 Here is where it gets interesting, KITI (all of the way from Winlock at 400 watts)
95.3 KXXK, with faint CKZZ in the background
95.5
95.7 KJR-FM
95.9
96.1 KXXO
96.5 KJAQ
96.7
96.9 KGY
97.1
97.3 KIRO
97.5
97.7 KOMO

98.1 KING
98.3
98.5 CIOC (Very Clear)
98.7
98.9 KLCK
99.1
99.3 KDDS
99.5 Tried for KWJJ, but KDDS was making it too difficult
99.7
99.9 KISW
100.1
100.3 CKKQ (Clear)
100.5
100.7 KKWF
100.9
101.1 KXL (with a faint CFMI bursting in)
101.3

101.9 KINK (Extremely clear)
102.1 KPQ/KSWW (both faint)
102.3

102.9 KNBQ
103.1 CHTT (Very faint)
103.3 K277AE (KHTP) Translator (faint)
103.5 CHQM (extremely faint)
103.7 KHTP
103.9
104.1 KMAS translator. No sign of KAFE, which dominates this frequency if I shake KMAS
104.3 KMNT (clear)
104.5 KMCQ
104.7 KDUX (Faint)
104.9 KKBW
105.1

107.1 KRQT (audible)
107.3 CHBE
107.5
107.7 KNDD

Anyways, that's what I was able to pick up. Where are some good places in the Puget Sound area to do bandscans (specifically to pick up the Mount Seymour signals)? Peacock hill was decent considering there not being any tropo, but i'd like to do better.

K289AK Orting is on 105.7 with CSN.

Try Little Mountain in Mount Vernon. Only KSVR broadcasts off that and some days, it's a goldmine.

All I could pick up on 90.1 was spillover from KGHP. I was quite surprised that I could not receive them. I have never been able to pick them up unless I was in Tacoma proper.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Keep them coming cause i'd love to do more scans in the future

When I was at Hood Canal near the "Eldon Store" in Eldon, WA (Hamma Hamma area), I got two very weak 90.1 signals. One was KPLI Olympia WA (with // KPLU and I think it's 100W), and a very weak station with rock music. Almost threshold with my Grundig G8 on the beach - I wonder if KUPS made the trip up there?

That would be quite the catch! KUPS is extremely weak outside of the north end of Tacoma. Was Eldon Shore a hot spot for Mount Seymour radio? I have been able to listen to CFMI in Bremerton in the past.

The Eldon WA area? Heck no. Absolutely NO Vancouver stations. Completely blocked by the Olympics, 5000 feet high to the NNW of me. Victoria came in, but very very weak - CBU-FM1 92.1 was almost threshold. I actually got KEYG 98.5 from GRAND COULEE easier than CIOC at times...
