Had to do it quick because my battery for my video camera was about to run out.

That's still a lot more than when I was out there as a teenager. The upper end of the band was not available for commercial broadcasting. Same goes for analog TV channels 5 aand 6. IIRC, those channels and the upper half of FM was reserved for the military.....even though they weren't using it.
