FM Bandscans: The Classic Edition

The thread (started in 2006) about how many FM stations you can receive got me thinking about the differences in trying to DX now vs. 20 to 30 years ago. This was before Docket 80-90, LPFM and a zillion religious translators, and when a lot of stations still signed off overnight. If you were DXing FM before about 1987, what do you remember as a normal, maybe somewhat enhanced bandscan? I'm putting this together from memory from my location near Celina, Ohio. I didn't pay that much attention to the non-com band back then so this is just the commercial band.

I wonder if those were just the strongest ones he got. Seems like you could pull in a few more signals out there with a decent setup.

On a different note, have you ever copied any trans-Atlantic signals on MW or LW there on Nantucket? It would seem to be an excellent place from which to dx MW signals - day and night. What are you able to get?
