FM FOR SALE

Okay, I've been investigating this since 10am yesterday. Does anyone have any idea what station this is? At this price, it could be a noncomm, but I can't locate a standalone FM that fits this in the Panhandle, Alabama, Mississippi or Georgia. Any ideas?

Looking at the little map on the left hand side of the offering, It is well out of range of PC. In the middle of nada. Might be wrong. My guess - there is a reason it's so inexpensive. There is quite possibly no pearl in this oyster?

The obvious guess would be the 100kw Apalachicola station, but I don't think it's worth that much. If it is one of the old Oyster stations, I'd guess it's worth south of 200k.

But it could be anything, it says "standalone" that just means one station is for sale, maybe a cluster is selling off a station to pay some bills and stay in business. Also, it says a full class C, but maybe it's really a C0 or C1... just as long as it's 100kw and playing "Hot Hits." Hot Hits might not even mean CHR, could still describe a country station.

Hell, that means it could be WPFM! The price sounds about right for the Great 108... or maybe 97X in Bonifay?

No stations in Pensacola or Fort Walton would fit. Big Corporate Radio owns every 100kw stick this side of Panama City except WAAZ and WHWY

Do people call the area between Tallahassee and Jacksonville (or I-75) part of the Panhandle? If so, I have no idea if there are any 100kw stations over there... perhaps one targeting Valdosta and Lake City? Perhaps something on the east side of the Big Bend like the Perry/Cross City area?

I suppose looking at North Florida without having lived in FL for 15 years means I'm not up on all of the current ownership and their situations. I think it's true that it's part of a group, with someone trying to increase cash flow. Also, regarding the star on the ad, that's just marking Tallahassee as the state capitol, I think. Knowing some of the brokers working today, if even 1 person can claim to hear a signal in a bigger market, that broker will claim it's got sizeable listenership in that market! And you know who I'm talking about... Anyway, the price is so worth looking into for a C that it would just make sense for someone to scoop it up. You can't get a class A anymore through the FCC auctions that cheap most of the time.
