FM Frequency of the Week - 101.7 MHz

What can you all get on 101.7 FM?

Here in Vermilion, OH this is a good DX frequency as on any given day it's alternating WHOF/N. Canton, OH, CKNX/Wingham, ON (at almost 200 miles!) and WNKO/New Albany, OH all with very weak signals unless there's tropo enhancement. I've also caught WHZZ/Lansing, MI and WMVL/Linesville, PA with tropo

In Houston, 101.7 is more often than not KNTE Bay City, TX 35kW/1470ft. airing Spanish dance and pop as "Baila" 101.7 from SW of Houston. Second most common at the frequency is KAYD Silsbee, TX 10.5 kW/490 ft. airing country as "KD 101". When the wind blows right I can get KSAM Huntsville, TX from the north "K-Sam 101-7" at 3.7kW airing country from east of Houston.

Northern VA,

It's pretty much an open frequency here at normal times. Tropo and any other forms of temperature inversions have led me to hear WJKS Canton, NJ (near the Delaware Bay) and WLQM Franklin, VA and WZEB Ocean View, DE. So it's all 3 stations around the Chesapeake Bay. One E skip opening I heard a 101.7 station from Azle, TX (north of Ft. Worth) I think it was Spanish, it is now Air 1 contemporary Christian staton KYDA according to Radio-Locator.

Manistee, MI: Nothing to a very weak WMRR. Never heard anything else there, even after the local 101.5 downgraded to 250W
Allendale, MI: A decent strength WMRR

On rare occasions east of Charlotte NC I have picked up WKZQ in Myrtle Beach, SC. Several years ago that station agreed to swap frequencies with WAVF Charleston, SC. I picked that station up in Marion, SC on the way to Myrtle Beach.

Here in Warminster PA(Philly 'burbs), I once received WJKS(Kiss 102) from Canton NJ(Wilmington DE) in tropo. Other than that, mainly splatter from semi-local 101.5(WKXW from Trenton NJ).

In Marysville, WA 101.7 is mainly CHLY Nanaimo, BC, with sometimes hearing K269FT Aberdeen WA (105 mi at 250W) and K269FX Port Angeles WA (new log today! Repeats KONP 1450) Have been trying for CIVL with no luck.

Via E-skip, I've received KQTM Albuquerque, NM and KQAZ Springerville, AZ.

Pacific Beach, WA - K269FT Aberdeen WA (KXRO 1320)
Portland, OR - Nothing, just slop from KINK.
Yakima, WA - KLES Prosser, WA (Regional Mexican)

When in Northern Lake County Indiana, I get splatter from 101.9 WTMX. When in Central & southern Lake County Indiana, I get WIVR Kentland Indiana (though the station is marketed more toward the Kankakee/Watseka areas if Illinois)
