FM Frequency of the Week: 102.1

Hartland, VT:
WVXR Randolph, affiliate of Vermont Public Radio's classical music network.

Meriden, CT:
WAQY Springfield, MA, classic rock.

East Tennessee: Only local WWST, Star 102,1.

Retro/other: Dayton, OH area, mostly WIMT, T102 Lima. I received WWST once there. WIMT was a strong local in the Western Ohio town I grew up in. Lafayette IN area, mostly WDNL, Danville IL.

T102 still has a decent reach into the northwestern parts of metro Columbus. It's often quite listenable in Dublin, Hilliard and Powell, and definitely anywhere to the north and west from there. It's the only Lima signal to make it over the Bellefontaine ridge coming toward Columbus.
Local LPFM WCRM transmits a multi-cultural format with 84 watts from up off Morse Road, but it's almost a non-factor by the time one hits Dublin.

South Mississippi:

WRQO Monticello, MS "Supertalk Mississippi" is the most frequently heard, along with
KYBG Basile, LA "Big 102.1" (classic hits)
WWAV Santa Rosa Beach, FL "102.1 The Wave" (variety hits)
WQUA Citronelle, AL (Sonlife Radio)

Western Detroit, MI suburbs:

Even with 1st adjacent local WDET (101.9 MHz) present several signals are commonly heard. Mostly WLEW-FM "Cruise 102" in Bad Axe, MI (~100 miles). WDOK Cleveland, OH (~110 miles), and NPR affiliate WMUK Kalamazoo, MI (~115 miles) make an occasional appearance.

Central Kansas:
Nothing but KZSN/Hutchinson

North Iowa:
Mostly a bleedover frequency, but have received a very weak KUQQ/Milford and KEEY/St. Paul before.

Due to local T-102, 102.1 is a Rorschach-equivelant twin of 101.7 at home here. WAVT Pottsville's 101.9 signal is huge.
Sometimes, though, heading south, the car radio will get the CHR from Philly on 102.1 -- going down hills, of course.
See, from where I live, it;s 1450' HASL, so everything South of here sorta gradually slides into Chesapeake Bay.

Here in Phoenix: KAHM 102.1 out of Prescott.

East valley Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert: A mix of KAHM and KFMA out of Tucson.

In Cullowhee, NC at Western Carolina University, even though radio-locator says that one could pick up CHR WWST Star 102.1 out of Sevierville, TN, it seems to be hit or miss, car radio won't put a lock đź”’ on 102.1, although if I am in my Eno at the right spot-on campus I can up Star 102.1 on my arm-band radio. I think possibly due to the W271CL 102.1 out of Brevard, NC as their contour reaches into parts of Jackson County, causing 102.1 to be wiped out for the most part.

Radio-Locator's maps bear only occasional resemblance to reality. Remember, anyone can be an internet publisher and post content that looks authentic and authoritative. But "content" doesn't always equal "information."

33kW KRBQ, out of San Fransisco.

Down here in the south bay (south San Jose), the dBuV/m is all over the place. Some areas, its just above 60 and in others, its below 50. God forbid you get behind a building in downtown were it drops into the 40s. This station (and others like it) should be ashamed to say they server the San Jose regional area. We have been and always will be the "red headed" stepchild when it comes to TV and radio signals out of San Francisco.

At the lake house (14 miles dead south of Aitkin, MN)

KEEY Minneapolis (at 93 miles away) Country
It helps when you have a giant lake to the south of you so the Minneapolis stations can come in pretty well most of the time
