FM Frequency of the Week: 102.7 FM

What do you guys get on 102.7?

Bothell/Bellevue, WA: Usually KZOK IBOC; sometimes a hint of KNBQ splatter.
Pacific Beach, WA: KYTE Newport, OR (Adult Contemporary, maybe more of a Hot AC, heard J-Lo's On The Floor once here)
Yakima, WA: KORD Richland, WA (Country)

In Durham, North Carolina, it's either WGNI in Wilmington, NC or WJJX in Appomattox, VA, usually the former with interference from the latter. A few months ago, while listening to WGNI one night, I pulled in my driveway and heard country music on 102.7, which was WHKR in Rockledge, FL.

Other catches on the frequency have included (as always, call letters current when received):

KLDG, Liberal, KS
KFRX, Lincoln, NE
KYBB, Canton, SD
WPMA, Sparta, GA
CJMV, Val d' Or, PQ
KTIG, Pequot Lakes, MN
KJYO, Oklahoma City, OK
WPUB, Camden, SC

102.7 in Lincoln has never been KFRX. It's KVSS.

In Los Angeles:

Nothing else besides "LA's #1 Hit Music Station, 102.7 KIIS-FM!"

Here in DC, it's WQSR 102.7 FM "Jack-FM".

Back when I was growing up in Lorain, Ohio (20 miles west of Cleveland), we would normally get WCPZ-FM Sandusky, unless a strong tropospheric event was taking place which caused 102.7 out of Detroit to blast in.

Schenectady, NY: a weak WEQX from Manchester, VT usually with interference from WKKF (102.3 Kiss FM) although tropo tends to enhance the signal :)

In Charleston, almost always IBOC hash from local WXLY 102.5. WGNI sneaks in during big skip maybe once or twice a month. Before 102.5 added IBOC, WGNI was a big regular, just as much as 101.3 and 97.3 from there (those come in at least two or three times a week, very well at that).

Until IBOC was added at 102.5, GNI had regular listeners as far south as Georgetown. I've heard WHKR a couple times, but strangely never WPUB even though it is in the same state.

One time I got 102.7 out of Miami but that was it.

A long, long, long time ago I heard WRVM on 102.7 from Suring, WI...somehow V-103 (or was it WBMX?) was either off the air or on backup facilities so it was not as strong as when off the tall 'scrapers. I would look for WRVM and 93.5 from New London, WI if tropo from the Green Bay area is strong...a good sign tropo from NE WI is happening is to watch for WPNE 89.3 from Green Bay to obliterate WNUR in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.

102.7 in Lincoln has never been KFRX. It's KVSS.

When I lived in Nebraska in the 90s, KFRX was most definitely the call of the Lincoln station on 102.7, with a top-40 format. It was later bought by a Catholic organization and moved to Papillion, Nebraska, just south of Omaha, and the calls are now KVSS.

From Coldwater, MI-

WLEG- Ligonier, IN- Hot AC- Froggy 102.7
W274AQ- Battle Creek, MI- Religious/WQKO- Recent sign-on, previously it would have been all WLEG in my location

Tropo brings in...
WHTD- Mount Clemens, MI- Hip-hop- Hot 102.7
WCPZ- Sandusky, OH- Hot AC- Mix 102.7
WVAZ- Oak Park, IL- Urban AC- V-103
WMOM- Pentwater, MI- AC- Mom-FM

Here in Vermilion, OH 102.7 is local WCPZ/Sandusky, OH 'Mix 102-7' a Hot AC station owned by BAS Broadcasting. Occasionally with some tropo action, WHTD/Mt. Clemens, MI 'Hot 102.7' a Hip-hop station will cause interference with WCPZ even this close in as these two stations are somewhat short-spaced with each other.

absolutely correct...here's a quick time-line of the calls:
KFORFM - (original CP?)
KFRX - 02/01/1980
KBZR - 09/28/2007
KVSS - 06/23/2009

Guess it's been a long while since I logged Lincoln's 102.7 (I've been logging FM DXing since 1993). I've noted the current KVSS calls just in case I hear them again.

Here in Warminster PA, it's usually splatter from WMGK Philly(102.9) or WRFY Reading PA(102.5).
I have heard WNEW-FM from New York and the Baltimore 102.7(WXYV, WQSR) station on occasions, too.

In Saratoga Springs NY.....Alternative Rock station WEQX....loud and clear!!!! When WEQX is off the air ...I can pull in WKSB, Williamsport, Pa and WWFS, New york City....with my yagii antenna....
