FM Frequency of The Week: 104.7

What have you gotten on 104.7 FM?
For me, here's what I've gotten.

Callsign Location Format Date (if I know) Location where caught Distance in miles How I recieved it
KKRV Wenatchee, WA Country 5/11/2009 Thrall, WA 30 miles Ex. Groundwave
KDUX Aberdeen, WA Classic Rock July '07 Pacific Beach, WA 16 miles Local
KDUX Aberdeen, WA Classic Rock 5/11/2009 North Bend, WA 100 miles Tropo
KNNG Sterling, CO Country 7/01/2009 Bothell, WA 1055 miles E-skip

-crainbebo

WIOT Toledo
WFRN South Bend
WTUE Dayton

these are the only 3 i can ever recall Getting on 104.7
WTUE is almost a regular when ever the conditions are right if headed to the East on Skips

In northern VA I get WAYZ 104.7 from Hagerstown, MD about 60 miles north. (Hagerstown is located in section of MD between northeast WV and the PA border), and sometimes WQHQ Ocean CIty/Salisbury MD near the Atlantic coast. (tropo over the Chesapeake Bay), sometimes WPZZ Crewe, Va., about 30 north of the NC border and 40 miles SW of Richmond. The WAYZ transmitter is about 15 miles E of Hagerstown and about 2 miles S of the PA border, somewhere on a mountain.

From Murfreesboro, TN (appx 35 miles SE of Nashville), in order of most commonly heard stations since moving here July '09:

Via Tropo:
WZZK Birmingham, AL (166 mi, 100kw) - biggest "pest"
WMUF Henry, TN (107 mi, 2.9kw)
WITZ Jasper, IN (175 mi, 50kw)
WLIV Monterey, TN (67 mi, 1.25kw)

Via Es:
KKLS Sioux Falls, SD (785 mi, 100kw)
CBVE Quebec City, QC, Canada (1077 mi, 24.9kw)

Should have a lot more stuff, but local RFI noise tends to plague 104.7 more than most other frequencies, so I've neglecting DX'ing it despite it being a fairly good DX frequency.

From 30 miles south of Indy, a swing of the yagi on 104.7 produces WITZ/Jasper,IN or WTUE/Dayton,OH and little else, thanks partly to Indianapolis IBOC interference from 104.5.

40 miles NW of Chicago:

WCFL Morris, IL - This one is heard when there is some Central IL tropo; usually under WDDW/WFRN
WDDW Sturtevant, WI - Most Consistent (and closest)
WIOT Toledo, OH - heard when WUOM is propagating in here...
WFRN Elkhart, IN - 2nd Most Consistent
WRBQ Tampa, FL (heard this one in the 70's)

Here, it's mostly IBOC noise from Charleston's local 104.5, WRFQ. Before they went on with that, Columbia's WNOK often came in. WNOK has a good signal, which is short-changed by Charlotte's station at 104.7.

As close in as parts of Rock Hill, 25 miles from downtown Charlotte, WNOK bleeds into WKQC's signal. Other Charlotte stations can be heard nearly to Columbia.

In Gary Indiana, I might hear WFRN Elkhart (station is licensed to Elkhart, & tower is in Elkhart County, & not St Joseph County, like other South Bend area stations) or WCFL Morris Illinois (simulcast of WBGL Champaign, IL).
If WCFL didn't have a null toward Chicago, I could get WCFL in better. WCFL signed on under the current rules, and must protect WJMK Chicago on 104.3 & 105.1 WOJO Evanston/Chicago.

Lets see, I get a few stations on 104.7, but not this time of year. Its usually WTUE, or WITZ, but I have heard much farther than that. My Location,,, near Indianapolis Indiana...

Only one in Clovis CA. KHTN Planada/Merced CA. 53 miles away, format-Hip Hop.

Isnt that a LPFM,,, if it is thats a pretty good groundwave catch..

No, KHTN is a class B with 2K W ERP at 2000 ft Average terrain 4500 ft above sealevel. You could be thinking of KDJK 103.9 from the same transmitter site, its a 74 watt repeater for KHKK 104.1 the Hawk in Modesto, I can receive that station as well.
