FM Frequency of the week - 104.7

Dayton OH...local WTUE. There was one occasion where I heard Toledo's WIOT underneath them in Springfield. They both were carrying Bob and Tom but one was on a few seconds delay.

Here in SW Florida 104.7 is WSGL with it's COL of Naples and it runs a Hot AC format. WSGL has been around since 1980 and in it's 31 year history it has been located on three different dial locations. It started out at 98.9 with a country music format. It relocated up the dial to 103.1 in 1902 to increase it's power. It also changed over to an Adult AC format shortly after. In 1999 it moved once again up to 104.7 again increasing it's power.

In northern VA,

Semilocal WAYZ from Hagerstown, MD, 55 miles to the NNW, with the transmitter on a mountain somewhere along the PA border. Plays country music; used to ba an instrumental easy listening station until 2000 when the station went ownership change. In the warmer months I occasionally hear WQHQ in Ocean City, MD, along the Atlantic coast.

Have you ever gotten WPZZ on 104.7?

I did once during a tropo opening here in Manassas, VA. Usually, WAYZ in Hagerstown rules the 104.7 spot. I've gotten WPZZ once in Fredericksburg, VA as well despite the splatter from WGRX 104.5 about 5 miles away with a CCRadioSW, this was before I had any portable DSP radio.

Alabama Gulf Coast: Weak and occasionally inaudible, but it's almost always WAAZ Crestview, FL. That's about 70 miles. It's 100 kW but it just doesn't reach this area well for some reason. They're also a throwback to olden days. They still are live and local as far as I know, and they still sign off each night after midnight!

To back up Charles' assertion that WZZK is one of the best signals in the state, I've gotten WZZK here (210 miles) after WAAZ's sign off, several times.
