The WCHO tower was moved so (then) Clear Channel could engineer Columbus move-ins.From Pickerington, Ohio, nothing nowadays under the digital hash of local WXZX on 105.7.
20 or more years ago, pre-digital and when 105.7 transmitted from between Dublin and Marysville, WCHO from Washington Court House was an easy pickup. Then as now, it had a country format and in those days, it was true small-town full-service radio. Local swap shop show, plenty of news and a lot of high school sports in addition to carrying some Reds games (not all) broadcast by its AM sister station. Once 105.7 moved into the metro, it became a much tougher pickup. Not even sure now where its signal begins to break through 105.7's hash.
Not far southeast of me, WXTQ "Power 105" from Athens begins to break through. AC/top 40 and flagship of Ohio University football and men's basketball.
East Tennessee: WSEV-FM, "Mixx 105-5", adult contemporary and the local info station for Sevier County
I'll have to take a listen. They were running a separate Classic Hits format on 106.3 a few years ago, now talk and sports. 930/104.1 (not co-owned of course is Weston 104.1 (what?)I think they made a slight format adjustment. Last time I was down that way (February), they were calling themselves Classic Hits and indeed I'd say most of the music was classic. Still heard a few songs though that I would classify as AC so maybe they are trying to cover both.
WMGH is literally the only local station we have thats any good. Its my strongest signal where im at too on my part of sharp mountain. I wouldnt even call it AC honestly. Its more of a classic rock format of sorts. They play more deep cuts and album tracks than 102.9 MGK and 99.9 The Hawk combined. I love it. Sound quality isnt the best. That would be my bitch if there is any. Way better station than t102. But i despise todays pop music with a burning passion so my opinion on that is a bit biased. The local of sorts is Magic 105.5 WMGH from Tamaqua, 13 miles east of me, a super-overprocessed AC, and enough holes in their signal to operate low-power FM's on the same frequency.
I'm in that null right under the first 'a' in Shenandoah.
When I lived cattycorner here in town, at the top of a hill, I'd get rocker 105.7 from York bumping off Magic going all the way up the hill.
That arcing terrain path through the state -- from southwest to northeast -- affects a lot of reception.
Ha -- WMGH's sister station, WLSH Oldies 1410, is in the same building. But they're licensed to Lansford, in the next county, Carbon. Magic's COL is Tamaqua, in Schuylkill County.
