FM Frequency of the Week: 106.5

What do you get on 106.5?

Here in Carmichael, CA it's all KUDL 106-5 the End

When I go back to Vallejo, I can still get KUDL, But now it's LPFM KVVC Vallejo with a Religious Format

Retro -- When I was living in Pacifica, CA it's all KEZR San Jose

East Tennessee----Mostly WJDT, Rogersville, TN, serving the Lakeway area. Occasionally WSKZ, Chattanooga skipping in.
Retro/other: For a big swath of Ohio and Indiana, whatever their call letters are this week (WTKD), Greenville, Ohio, trying to rimshot Dayton from well north. During my child snd teenage hood they were much lower-powered WDRK, which lost its license due to various shenanigans.

In the southwest suburbs of Chicago, it's a stretch to get WXNU St. Anne, which is south-southeast of Kankakee. I'm outside the fringe area but can get it by fiddling with the antenna; it's a little easier in the car. WXNU runs 1,950 watts from a 475-foot tower just south of the town.

Here in the South Bay, its KEZR. Very good station that plays pop and a bit of old school every now and then to. Always liked this station and hope they never change.

From Cheyenne, WY:
Generally nothing locally except for some splatter from both KLEN (106.3) and KWBL (106.7). If there is tropo in, a common target is KMCX Ogallala, that country station about 162 miles away.
When I went to Scottsbluff in December, during "deadband" conditions, KMCX was in consistently. It was weak and staticky, but in some spots (particularly downtown), it pops in nicely (113 miles).
Although I think this frequency had E-skip on it last year, I never was able to positively identify the stations. This year though, I'll be ready!

Nothing here around Columbus, Ohio, as 106.5 is right between two urban formats in WBMO on 106.3 and WZCB on 106.7.
In my college haunts of Toledo, 106.5 now is WTOD "The Truth" ... same Christian format and slogan as WTKD. Toledo's 106.5 was "The Buzz" in my college years with hard rock, then more recently sports as 106.5 The Ticket until last year. Not quite a rimshot signal to Toledo, but the signal in parts of the metro essentially made it one.
I was always aware of Greenville's 106.5 when I visited family in western Ohio, but I rarely listened. Solid signal into the Celina-St. Marys area.

South Mississippi:

Usually it's KQXL New Roads, LA Q106.5 Classic Soul/Smooth R&B. Further east, there's WAVH Daphne, AL "FM Talk 106.5". Tropo brought in KOOI Jacksonville, TX (Jack FM) and KOVE Galveston, TX "Amor 106.5"

Northeast New Jersey: hash from 106.7 Lite FM but during tropo:

WTHJ (Thunder 106) Bass River, NJ-83 miles. I can get the 106.3 simulcast 24/7
WBMW (Soft Rock 106.5) Pawcatuck, CT 120 miles

Nothing, ever..

Chatham, IL (12 miles southwest of Springfield):

Fair to poor signal of WARH ("The Arch") St. Louis, but I have heard KCQQ Davenport, IA (formerly classic hits Q106.5) try to sneak in on occasion.

Central Kansas:
Pretty fair reception from KYQQ/Arkansas City, though WDAF-FM/Liberty will fight with it occasionally depending on antenna position (‘YQQ tends to win out the majority of the time). There is a Catholic LPFM, KGIH-LP, just up the road in Abilene, but I’m too far away to ever receive them.

North Iowa:
Occasional mostly weak to semi-fair reception from KFMC/Fairmont. Actually heard their format change to classic hits a couple of years ago, though I was driving a work vehicle and had no access to record it. Have heard KCQQ/Davenport on rare instances, though it has to be more south for reception.
