FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19: 102.1

Up the dial in our survey of the traditional Class B/C FM Frequencies in the U.S.

What do you/did you hear on 102.5

East Tennessee: Before translators opened up in Knoxville (W273DX relaying WRJZ-620) and Morristown (W273DK relaying WNPC-1060) WOWF, Crossville had pretty much free reign, coming in at least weakly. Driving up toward Newfound Gap, WOWF came in like a local.

Retro/other: Dayton, OH: WMDH, NewCastle IN or WHIZ Zanesville OH (I know this facility has tower danced its way to Columbus since then). One time DX reception of WIOG, Saginaw MI during an incredible opening where fog covered several states.

Retro DX Clip of the Week: WIOG as heard in either Indiana or Ohio in 1989. In Lazer Digital Stereo! http://46124.info/FM/Michigan/MI Bay City 102.5 1989 WIOG.mp3

Did we skip over 102.3?

I think it's supposed to be 102.5. If I understand correctly, we're doing the "B and C" channels. But since you brought up 102.3, I'll bite. Here in Crystal Lake, 102.3 is WXLC from Waukegan, IL. Signal is surprisingly good and the station definitely has a local following,

WXLC can be heard pretty well here too. Now back to your regularly scheduled frequency :)

OK. In Hotlanta it's WPZE Praise 102.5 a Black gospel station.

Nothing dominates on 102.5 around Yakima. Usually KZOK Seattle (Classic Rock) scatters around here when an airplane flies by or when the tropo scatter is up. There is a CP for a local translator that would kill any DX on this channel.
Es logs include KNIX Phoenix (Country), KIOT Los Lunas NM (Classic Rock), KZII Lubbock TX (CHR), KSNI Santa Maria CA (Country), KGGN-FM Hemet CA (Christian Contemporary) and KTRR Loveland CO (Classic Hits).
Anything else in Eskip range is needed. This includes the travelers' information station in Grand Canyon, KUGO, at 14000 watts.

Mason City, IA:
Depending on day and conditions, very weak signals from KSTZ/Des Moines and KMFX/Lake City, MN.

Central KS:
KBLS/N. Ft. Riley
