FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19: 105.9

Up one more as we check out the traditional U.S. Class B/C FM Frequencies. Let's do 105.9 this week.

East Tennessee: Before translator W290DJ arrived to relay WGAP, Maryville (Mur-val) TN, WTMT "The Mountain" Weaverville (Asheville) was most likely to make an appearance.

Retro/other: Present day still, in trips to Marion, NC to see family members, one loses WTMT not far from Asheville for a few minutes on I-40 going up one mountain and W290CW, relaying oldies WAIZ (which serves as a tribute station to the classic WAYS), comes in and takes over. On the other side, WTMT is back.

Dayton, Ohio: I'll most remember this station as WPFB-FM, The Rebel, but now it's WNKN, the call letters it picked up under Northern Kentucy Uni ersity's ownership. Now it's back to classic country under a different owner. I've picked up this signal regularly as far as Fort Wayne.

Same here in the far northwest burbs. With a fair signal. Actually, for some reason slightly weaker than most of the other downtown Chicago full-signal FMs. Lots of "picket fence" in the car.
 
Lexington, KY:

Local Adult Contemporary WNJK, Nicholasville. During strong tropo north of Lexington WNKN, Middletown (Cincinnati area) overpowers WNJK.
 
Warminster PA(Philly 'burbs):

Usually splatter from local 106.1 WISX. In tropo, there's WQXR from NYC, WHCN from
Hartford CT and WMAL-FM from DC.
 
Pretty much a dead frequency here in Bremerton, WA. Splatter from 106.1 KBKS "Kiss FM". Was never able to get 105.9 out of Portland, OR., even up on Green Mountain.
 
Mason City, IA:
Splatter from adjacent channel KLSS.

Central KS:
Depending on antenna location, a fairly decent signal from KKSW/Lawrence (the old KLZR), despite being 110ish miles away (benefits on living on a hill). (My house is far away from receiving adjacent channel splatter from KJRL/Herington.)
 
I have also heard KLSR\KKSW come in in Carrollton, MO, whenever the weather conditions are just right, usually obliterating the weak signal from KULH.
 
Hello everyone. Just wanted to bring this one back. In terms of Orlando FL, it's 105.9 Sunny fm all the time but in Palm Bay fl, it has been 105.9 from ft myres, the st pete area and Orlando. This is for anyone who is wondering. Radios like the Sangean 161 pocket radio can hear 105.9 from Orlando in Palm Bay most times on the signal. 105.9 is a personal benchmark signal for me because Orock 1059 was my favorite radio station for as long as they were on the air in the mid 2000s, and I would tune every radio I encountered growing up to 105.9 FM. That is how I learned how sensitive a radio was became very important to me. To give you an idea. I had a sanyo boombox from 2001 and it got 105.9 from Orlando in Palm Bay like it was local. Even my cheap magnavox stereo could hear it. The cc 2e hears it as well.

They have since changed to KRRW and now air a classic country format along with NASCAR
They actually moved the callsign and format from 101.5 in St James. For a month in 2020 (April-beginning of May) they simulcast on both but then changed 101.5 to KEMJ "Emoji 101.5" (Hot AC)
