FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19-20: 89.5

Up the dial in the U.S. non-comm band to 89.5
East Tennessee (Knoxville/Sevierville) A weak WETS, East Tennessee State University's NPR station in Johnson City

Retro/other: Dayton, OH. The WQRP/WDPS combo plate. WDPS belongs to Dayton Public Schools and operated 9-4:15pm weekdays with jazz. All other hours are filled by K-Love, which retained the WQRP call letters which were on 88.1

Retro DX Clip of the week: Here's quickie Es reception of KFMA, Austin TX

http://46124.info/FM/Texas/TX Austin 89.5 1989 KMFA.mp3

An easy one for me - KSOH Wapato WA (Lifetalk Radio). Nothing else has been heard here, and even in Roslyn & Cle Elum it's all KSOH. You won't hear C89.5 Seattle probably until Snoqualmie Pass on 90.

KPOO community radio out of San Francisco 270 w plays an eclectic mix of music...signal is very weak, as you would expect. Insert jokes here.

In NW AR

KWGS Tulsa, OK (NPR) - strongest with the antenna aimed west

DX:
WAYJ Naples, FL
KHCD Salina, KS (NPR)
KPRN Grand Junction, CO (NPR / CPR)
KCKJ Sarcoxie, MO (Christian)
WFIT Melbourne, FL (NPR)
KVNE Tyler, TX (Christian)

Central KS:
Good, pretty clean signal from KHCD/Salina (1 of the 3 stations that make up the NPR/classical hybrid Radio Kansas, O&O by my alma mater, Hutchinson Community College).

Mason City, IA:
Fair signal from K-Love affiliate KLFG/Ft. Dodge, with IPR Classical KHKE/Cedar Falls fighting with it here and there.
