FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19-20: 90.3

Up one more in the (US) non-comm band to 90.3

East Tennessee: 90.3 is home to WUTK "The Rock", named not so much for the type of music but the University of Tennessee rock on campus, where students can paint sports boosterism, inspirational messages, and, well, other things that aren't so nice. WUTK is one of the last of a dying breed, the "student station" as opposed to WUOT on 91.9, that the students get nowhere near. Not far away is WWQW in Wartburg, TN.

Retro/other: Dayton, OH, when I lived there it was WCDR, Cedarville University's Christian station, now as a K-Love O&O, it's WKCD. Further north there's WBCL, Fort Wayne, the home of much-toned down Phil Reasor, who once graced the Cleveland airwaves as Phil Gardner.

Retro DX Clip of the week: Here's WBOE, Cleveland in 1967. http://46124.info/FM/Ohio/OH Cleveland 90.3 1969 WBOE.mp3

Lexington, KY:
Rimshot fair-weak signal from Morehead State Univ. Public/NPR WMKY, Morehead. (37kW @ 904' ~60 mi.)

Zachary, LA (Baton Rouge area):
Strong signal from local jazz/smooth jazz/blues WBRH, Baton Rouge. (3.5kW @ 478' ~15 mi.)

Ellensburg WA

Semi-local KNWY Yakima (NPR), fuzzy signal.
K212DB Moses Lake (KAWZ) was heard one time from the Ellensburg area when KNWY was on an open carrier.
Hopefully the 2020 Eskip season will be decent, I think 90.3 DX can be in play with Manastash blocking most of the Yakima signal.

Picayune, MS:
WMAH Biloxi, MS (NPR)
when WMAH was off air, WBRH Baton Rouge, LA (Jazz) could also be received.
