FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19-20: 93.5

Continuing with the traditional U.S. Class A frequencies.
East Tennessee: Rimshot Regional Mexican WKZX, Lenoir City, TN. On its heels is WAXM, Big Stone Gap, VA which I've received in the gaps in Knoxville, and as you get closer to Gatlinburg, it dominates.

Retro/other: Dayton, OH area. If anything, WMXQ, Hartford City, IN; WKKI, Celina, OH, WMRN (formerly WDIF), Marion, OH or very occasionally, WRQN, Toledo, OH. I've received the aforementioned WAXM in the Dayton area once, along with several other stations from the area.

Also, WAXM made it to the Global Tuners receiver in Edinburgh IN (same place as the MW/HF remote SDR) this past week.

Retro DX Clip of the week from Bob Hawkins: From the Great Indiana Frequency Swap of 1986: Mike Morgan (who I know) just after the flip of WXUS from 92.7 to 93.5. http://46124.info/FM/Indiana/IN Lafayette 93.5 1986 WXUS Frequency Change from 92.7.mp3

From Smith County, Texas, 5 mi NW of Tyler, my typical reception is a regular battle between the newly Christened "Keeping Him Close By" KBPC Crockett 50kW @ 150m, and Country formatted KIKT Greenville "93.5 The Coyote" 12.5kW @ 119.4m.

Meriden, CT: Nothing, thanks to IBOC splatter from WZMX 93.7 Hartford, which has its transmitter only a couple of miles away. W227AJ 93.3 North Branford -- relaying WSHU Fairfield -- is its weak neighbor down the dial.

Remember WKKI and WMRN are both on 94.3. :)
No local 93.5's here around Columbus next to local blaster WODC on 93.3, but I remember WRQN from my college days. One of the first oldies stations I heard really dive into 70s music back in the late 90s.

Way ahead of myself into next week's frequency of the week, which will be 94.3 :) In one of my early radio job hunting trips I visited what was then----I think---this facility as WAWR, Bowling Green, OH.

Pretty sure it was once upon a time.
93.5 is licensed to BG, always identified as "Bowling Green-Toledo" when I listened and transmits from just west of Ohio 25 halfway between BG and Perrysburg.
I have my own observations on 94.3 next week as well!

Mostly WGEE from New London, WI with classic country "Duke FM" // to local 99.7 WDKF.

Rarely, WBCM from Boyne City, MI comes in. For years, it was country // to local 103.5 WTCM. However, a few months ago, WBCM flipped to a simulcast of rock 97.5 WKLT.

Lexington, KY:
Very weak signal from translator of Frankfort area oldies/classic hits "Passport Radio" trimulcast W228CL (250 W @ 135' ~26 mi.)

Zachary, LA:
Sometimes a faint signal from "Supertalk Mississippi" network member station WMPK, Summit (McComb, MS area) (6 kW @ 318' ~66 mi.)
