FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19: 93.3

What do you (or did you) get on 93.3?

East Tennessee: It was always WTPT, "The Planet", Forest City (Asheville) NC, which is one of the better Asheville area signals. W227DH (WMTN's translator in Morristown) sometimes sends WTPT back to its home planet these days, and sometimes bleeds over under 93.1 WNOX.

Retro/other: Dayton, Ohio area: Usually WAKW, Cincinnati but often WODC, Ashville (Columbus), Ohio, which moved in from Chillicothe. WBTU, Fort Wayne occasionally makes it. Lafayette IN area, WBTU would drift in as well as what was WKZW in Peoria.

Here is WBTU's predecessor, WAWK-FM, Kendallville IN with it's "Patterns in Stereo" evening Beautiful Music program.

Yakima, WA:

KRKL Walla Walla WA (K-LOVE), weak and noisy. Sometimes KUBE Seattle (Hip-Hop/Rap) for brief periods, will make it over KRKL.

With that, plenty of Es logged:
KKOB Albuquerque NM (CHR)
KIOA Des Moines IA (Classic Hits)
KDKB Mesa AZ (Alternative ex-Rock)
KHTS El Cajon CA (CHR)
KBLB Nisswa MN (Country)
KJKE Newcastle OK (Country)
KSJZ Jamestown ND (Hot AC)
KKDC Dolores CO (Rock)
KBHR Big Bear City CA (Adult Album Alternative)

Wanted
KTCL Wheat Ridge CO with Alternative Rock, Channel 93.3. Definitely need this station, and had a chance back in June when I was logging NE/KS/CO to 108, but didn't work out.
KJRV Wessington Springs SD, Big Jim Classic Rock. 65KW that should get out during Es. Just need a good South Dakota opening!
KXAZ Page AZ - Jack FM. Another addition to my already-long list of Arizona stations logged. Maybe in 2019.

Orange County, TX KQBU Port Arthur, TX - Spanish CHR 24/7. Originally signed on as KYKR in the 70's with a country format as the FM to daytimer KYKR 1510

The Valley of the Jolly Green Giant (Le Sueur, MN)
depends on location and the radio

most of the time its either nothing or bleedover from KATO 93.1
If I go out of town up the hill towards Minneapolis I can get W277BF fuzzy which is an analog translator of KQQL-HD2 Minneapolis. Its "Alt 93.3"
During humid weather I can easily get KBLB Nisswa (north of Brainerd) B93.3 Country...there are times when going to the cities KBLB will plow over the translator

93.3 is usually either WLDB Milwaukee, WI or WKQZ Midland, MI. WLDB is slightly more common.

Here are my other 93.3 catches:
KBLB Nisswa, MN
KIOA Des Moines, IA
KJKE Newcastle, OK
W227CH Sturgeon Bay, WI
WBSZ Ashland, WI
WFLZ Tampa, FL
WIZM La Crosse, WI
WJBT Callahan, FL
WMMR Philadelphia, PA
WPBG Peoria, IL
WZAE Wadley, GA
WQUE New Orleans, LA

Speaking of KTCL, it's one of only 16 stations I heard via Es during my year in Ypsilanti, MI (still haven't gotten it in Manistee, but there haven't been any good CO/WY/MT openings in the last few years)

Central Baldwin County, Alabama:

These days, if I hear anything at all, it's W227DA in Mobile, about 35 mile northwest of me. The translator relays WIJD Prichard, a Wilkins religious AM station.

If conditions are kicking up a bit, I'll hear either WQUE out of New Orleans or WNCV Shalimar (Fort Walton Beach), Florida. I'm more or less halfway between both stations.

The only memorable skip I've logged on this channel is WFLZ out of Tampa.

Far Northwest suburbs of Chicago....

93.3 around here is WLDB Milwaukee with a weak signal.

The Milwaukee 93.3 holds a special place for me. Well, sort of....

In the 1970s it was album rocker WQFM. Great Station. Owned by Roy Disney's Shamrock Broadcasting. I interviewed there and was offered the job. And then I realized if I took it, I would qualify for food stamps!
