FM Frequency of the Week 2018-19: 99.7

99.7
We’re continuing our review of the traditional U.S. Class B/C Frequencies on the FM band.
What do or did you get on 99.7?

East Tennessee: WJBE’s translator (W259AV) dominates from its Sharps Ridge site. (Yes, WJBE is named after the station James Brown once owned in Knoxville.) Before the translator came on the air, WWTN, Hendersonville, TN, “Nashville’s Supertalk” was heard fairly often.

Retro/other: I worked at a 99.7, WSHW “Shine 99” in Frankfort, Indiana, with tower midway between Frankfort and Kokomo. I’ve received this signal in my home town in West Central Ohio, Dayton and Cincinnati. Other 99.7’s received in the Dayton area include Columbus’s WRKZ (I think it had different calls when I lived in the Dayton area, and was the former WRMZ) and WKSD, Paulding, Ohio.

Retro DX Clip of the week: Long distance tropo from Muncie, Indiana to Muscatine, Iowa and KFMH’s all night show.

Local KHHK Yakima (Rhythmic Contemporary). No other stations heard here.

Warminster PA(Philly 'burbs):

Usually splatter from semi-locals 99.5 WJBR(Wilmington DE) and 99.9 the Hawk(WODE-FM Easton PA). Tropo situations would
bring us a Jersey Shore station(forget the calls, in Tuckerton NJ) or WYFI Norfolk VA.

Mason City, IA:
Depending on the day and way the antenna is pointed, I can get either KBEA/Muscatine-Quad Cities or KKC...err, correction...KARZ/Marshall, MN.

Central Kansas:
Mostly splatter from adjacent channel KSKG, but can eek out KHLT/Belle Plaine (far south side of Wichita), or KZPT/KC.
