FM Frequency of the Week - 88.9 MHz

What can you get on 88.9 FM?

Vermilion, OH: Mostly a weak WRDL - Ashland, OH from Ashland University.

Have received via e-skip:
KNSR - Collegeville, MN on 6-10-12
WUND - Manteo, NC on 7-24-12

Lower analogue sideband of what's left of KMHD after being assimilated by the OPBorg several years back. (Ibiquity on 88.6.) Occasionally a small amount of chatter from KLVP on .7 if I have the aerial situated correctly.

From near Summerdale, AL:

Nothing local, but new-ish religious sign on WILF out of Monroeville (~80 miles) is there on any decent radio. DX has brought in pubcasters from Tallahassee and Bude, MS. I'd very much like to hear KRIQ out of Richton, MS (near Hattiesburg) not because of its content but simply because it's one of the increasing number of stations with a K-call assigned to that state as of late.

I usually get WHLP Hanna, IN from Merrillville, IN, despite WGVE Gary on 88.7 & 89.1 WLPR Lowell, IN (antenna on the old WXRD tower south of Crown Point) transmitting strong signals in Merrillville. I don't get WHLP at all in Gary, where I live.

In Bellevue, WA it's usually KMIH Mercer Island. My new spot in Monroe, WA gets a multipathed CBUX-FM1 Victoria (Espace Musique). I also get a CSN xlator sometimes in the area (think it's Enumclaw area).

Via Es I have gotten only one...
KNPR Las Vegas, NV (NPR)

Portland, OR brings interference from KMHD, and Yakima has a weak KCSH Ellensburg (LifeTalk). I have caught KSWS Centralia in Edmonds with NWPR, and it also comes in tentatively in Auburn.

From Coldwater, MI

A very open frequency. Usually a very weak mish-mash of WSND- Notre Dame, IN and WDBM- East Lansing, MI.

Sometimes....
WJYW Union City, IN (Cont. Christian- Joy FM)
WTPG Whitehouse, OH
WJTA Glandorf, OH

88.9 is used by a guy about 1/2 a mile away for a synchronized light show between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can hear him faintly in my driveway and a little stronger on my antenna set-up at home.
