Let's try the non-comm part of the band for a change. What do you all get on 89.1 FM? Here in Vermilion, OH 89.1 is WNZN/Lorain with a Spanish format (when the station is broadcasting) Often times they are off the air...not sure if it's planned or for other reasons and I've tried DXing the freq. when WNZN is off-air but haven't been able to ID anyone yet. Will keep trying.

89.1 is one of the more interesting ones here in south Florida.
When pirates are not operating*, or not strong, WSMR Sarasota (classical) is the most common. There is a CP for a station in Big Cypress, somewhere along Alligator Alley (I-75) on the long road between Ft. Lauderdale & Naples.
I have heard quite a few 89.1's on E-skip, including ZBM Bermuda.
[*Only 2.3 miles away is a Montessori school, which was running a small station called "Montessori Academy On the Go," with student announcers 10 to 12 years old or so....but it shut off last week or so. Was never sure if this was a Part 15 or a pirate.]

With 88.9's in both the Dayton (WCSU) and Cincinnati areas (ClassX), not much but splatter on 89.1.
89.1 in Schenectady, NY is local NPR classical music station WMHT-FM, one of two public broadcasters serving the Capital District
89.1 in Bothell/Bellevue is usually the Radio U translator in Issaquah, WA and a CSN translator in Granite Falls, WA, mixing in at times.
In Yakima, WA it's KFAE Richland, WA with NWPR.
In Pacific Beach, WA it's a local LP station, KXPB. It's owned by the local food bank, and plays a variety of music, blues, 70s, 80s, etc.
In Portland, OR it's local KMHD Gresham (Jazz).

Here, on the fringe of downtown St. Petersburg, it's WSMR 24/7 classical music, licensed to Sarasota, antenna in Nokomis and main studio in Tampa. (Classical 24 overnights and local 6am through 9pm)cd637299 said:

Northern VA, I get weak WGMS 89.1 Hagerstown, MD, simulcasting DC's classical station WETA 90.9. The WGMS calls used to be on what is now WTOP in DC. On an "ordinary" radio, I would get only splatter from WPFW 89.3 in DC. On the Sony HD radio or tuner and a Tecsun DSP radio I get 89.1 with no 89.3 splatter.
In Durham, North Carolina, 89.1 MHz is usually a very strong signal from Roanoke, Virginia NPR affiliate WVTF, which, from its mountaintop perch and relatively open frequency, can be received well into the eastern part of the state and even to the Atlantic. The few times I hear anything other than WVTF on that channel, I get WWIP in Cheriton, Virginia. Other than these two stations, I once logged CKSB-1/ Fort Frances, Ontario, via e-skip.
Here in Warminster, PA(Philadelphia area), 89.1 is usually either semi-local WWFM from
Trenton NJ(on a digital readout radio) or splatter from local WRDV on 89.3(on an ordinary
tuning stick radio).

No, it's what's left of KMHD after the station was assimilated by the Oregon Public Borgcasting collective a couple years back.
And yes, that's what I get here for the most part. But reception is spotty in SE Vancouver, oddly enough. If I can get far enough into one of KMHD's many nulls during skip season, I can sometimes hear KFAE poking its head up and saying "hi"; probably being "ducted" down the Gorge. But the signal never seems to be sufficient enough for Evergreen RRS on their 67 kHz SCA to make it to this side of the Cascades.
