FM Frequency of the Week: 90.9

From Cheyenne, WY:
My local on 90.9 is KLWV Chugwater (actually located on Laramie's Pilot Hill), with the transmitter being 34.1 miles away from me. They are a K-Love affiliate.

The signal is strong around Cheyenne nowadays, however 90.9 was various degrees of screwed up between 2016 and early 2022. Before 2016, the signal was fine, but for some reason, their transmitter must've gotten worn out, and they was off the air occasionally to try and fix it. This problem also seemed to affect KCGY as well. In the beginning stages of 2022, KLWV decided to get a whole new transmitter to share with KUWR and KCGY, resulting in much better signals from all three of them. Still, KLWV does have some weak spots around the Dell Range Blvd. area, as well as parts of southern Cheyenne, but the overall signal is stronger, and more consistent. The signal also spills over onto 90.7 quite badly.

Ironically, the station's numerous repairs allowed me to capture some Dx on 90.9 FM.

Tropo: If KLWV is off the air, like it was for a little while earlier this year, then I can recieve a weak K215FF from Fort Collins (about 48 miles away and 150 watts), which relays Indie 102.3.

E-skip: WJAB Huntsville, Alabama, back in June 2020, before I really got into Dxing. Coincidentally, KLWV was also off the air at the time.

South Mississippi:

HD signal of WWOZ usually covers up anything here, sometimes there can be
KSLU Hammond, LA (Southeastern Louisiana University), AAA format
W215BE D'Iberville/Biloxi, MS (CSN Radio)
WATP Laurel, MS (American Family Radio)

Very rarely, these have been heard:
WMAO Greenwood, MS - MPB Think Radio
KSWP Lufkin, TX - Christian Music for Your Family

East Tennessee---a pretty open spot, with a whiff of WWOG, Cookeville, TN.

Retro/other: Dayton, Ohio------WGUC, Cincinnati

Here in Wood Dale, Illinois, it's WDCB, Glen Ellyn, IL with a solid signal and exceptional programming. The only station remaining in the Chicago area with a jazz music format. One of my favorite local stations.

Central Kansas:
Fair reception from Radio Kansas’ KHCT/Great Bend.

North Iowa:
Fair to mostly strong reception from KUNI/Cedar Falls, even with a translator next door at 90.7.
