FM Frequency of the Week: 92.3

Dayton, NV

Nothing

Vallejo, CA

Nothing

Retro: From time to time I listen to KSJO from where I live in Pacifica back in the 80's

Tyler TX:

A weak signal from KDPM in Marshall featuring a southern rock and country format as "The Depot". Hard to pick it up with local KRWR next door and in close proximity.

Wilmington Delaware

Normally an open frequency but I have heard -

W223CO Translator for WOND 1400 Pleasantville NJ

WERQ Baltimore MD

WTYD Deltaville VA

WZPR Nags Head NC

Denver, CO - Caught between two quasi-rimshots: from the south, 92.1 KJMN Castle Rock; from the north, 92.5 KKSE-FM Broomfield (with site SE of Longmont). There's spillover interference from KJMN's HD carrier which pretty much would block anything out on 92.3. There may be a couple of future tropo opportunities: 92.3 KSTH Holyoke (east of Sterling) is currently at 1 kw but has a CP to go to 35 kw, though still with a stubby 64m transmitting height. And there's a class A CP for 92.3 KFII Hugo, in the Limon area. That might be my best chance for something on 92.3 since it's the closest and flattest path to my present location. RadioWorld indicated in April that the station was going on the air in May, so it may already be broadcasting "using a four-bay Nicom BKG-77 antenna array on a short tower atop a grain elevator along I-70 north of Hugo." (73m HAAT) I can't find a way to verify this, however - can't find a phone number or email address for the station and its skeletal website has a "Contact Us" button that doesn't work.

KFII replaces a station whose license was surrendered in 2016 under the calls KKHG. It doesn't look like KKHG was actually on the air terribly often, judging by multiple silent STAs.

Former Oakland, CA location - 92.3 KSJO, somewhat riddled with multipath but, in parts of Oakland, strong enough for its HD channels to lock in. That's how I found out about "High-Fi Dream", KSJO-HD4, a topic of discussion on the San Francisco board a few weeks back.

Clifton, New Jersey

I get WINS-FM New York, NY. Currently, the 1010 WINS simulcast is on analog and HD1, Alt 92.3 on HD2 and Channel Q on HD3.

East Tennessee--Knoxville---W222BA (WETR), Karns, TN. Sevierville area, W222AN (WNPC), both of which can be overridden by 97000 watt WDEF, Chattanooga.

Retro/other: Dayton, Ohio. Normally WCOL, Columbus or sometimes WTTS, Bloomington IN. Further North in Western Ohio there is now WFWI.
Indiana]A mix of WTTS and WYIN,

In Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA), it's mostly splatter from adjacents WQFM 92.1 and the local religious translator on 92.5. However, on a very good radio(the SPARC HD), I mostly received a weak, but listenable signal of classic hits "Hanna Radio" from Sunbury(mid-Susquehanna Valley) area, which can also be heard on the HD subchannel over on 106.5 from Bloomsburg. That station also simulcasts on 106.1(which I couldn't get due to the WRTI translator here). To get the station fairly good, it is best to be heard on the patio with the antenna wire being attached to the headphone jack(whether it's a wire or an actual antenna), or in a hallway on the second floor of the house.

Fun fact: Last month, during the big tropo opening, I was hearing either pop or CHR-Urban music assuming it was WERQ 92.3 from Baltimore. Turns out, it heard an ID that mentions "Fly 92". I know the station is from Albany but so far I have never picked up any Albany signals where I live.

Central Kansas:
Excellent signal from KKGQ/Newton, though during E-skip one year (2016? I think), I have received KOMP/Las Vegas, wiping out ‘KGQ (whose transmitter was only 30 miles away from my location at the time).

North Iowa:
Decent signal from KOEL-FM/Oelwein.
