FM Frequency of the Week - 95.5 MHz

What can you get on 95.5 FM?

In Vermilion, OH it is semi-local WFHM/Cleveland, OH with Christian Contemporary music as 'The Fish'. It doesn't take much for WKQI/Detroit to interfere with them especially during cross-lake tropo/enhancement or even take over the frequency if it's strong enough. I heard country on this frequency once before but couldn't get an ID - possibly WHOK/Lancaster, OH.

Warminster PA(Philly 'burbs): usually splatter from 95.7 Ben-FM from Philly, but have gotten WPLJ from NYC or
WPGC from DC in tropo situations.

Although about 100 miles away, WLDI 95.5 Ft. Pierce FL.

cd

K-Beef (KBFF).

I don't really care what text messaging shorthand those call letters stand for; every time I see or hear them I can't help but imagine a radio station whose subject matter frequently involves barbecuing. You know?

For me it sounds like a station where people call in and complain about things. "All beefs, all the time, K-Beef!"

In Baldwin Co., Alabama, 95.5 is between two semi-local frequencies so nothing is local. But it's not unusual to hear country giant WTVY from Dothan, about 145 miles ENE of here. This morning I actually got a new log here, with WHLH "Hallelujah 95.5" out of Jackson, MS. The station closest to me on this channel, WJDB Thomasville, AL, is almost unheard of, despite being less than 100 miles north of here. WTVY usually dominates when conditions are good.

Albany, NY - WYJB-FM "B95" with a Hot AC format (although now they're all-Christmas until at least December 29)... when that station's been off in the past, I've managed to get WXXX (Top 40 station in Plattsburgh, NY) and WPLJ (Hot AC in New York City)

95.5 here in Bellevue, WA is KJR IBOC.

Other logs include KBFF Portland (Adult Top 40), KYOT Phoenix, AZ (EVA), KWNR Las Vegas (Country), KPHT Rocky Ford, CO (Classic Hits) and KWYY Casper, WY (Country).

Usually nothing pops up in Yakima, sometimes KBFF in Tropo.

In Pacific Beach, WA it was yet again, KBFF. Pretty good range of signal.

From Coldwater, MI-

Used to be a mish-mash of WKQI- Detroit, W238AL- Portage, MI, WNUA- Chicago, WFMS- Indianapolis, WFHM- Cleveland, WHOK- Lancaster and (deep breath) WJZJ- Glen Arbor, MI.

Now it's become a favorite spot for translators, starting in 2010 with W238BH in Kendallville, IN (1140 WAWK) a translator that could be heard up to 60 miles away in some directions. In January 2012, it became the home of W238CD right here in Coldwater (1590 WTVB).
