FM Frequency of the Week: 95.5

East Tennessee: Translator W238CP for WECO, Wartburg, TN. Before the translator, I would get either WSM-FM Nashville, WQHY, Prestonsburg, KY or WSBB, Doraville GA (before the tower move.).
 
Tyler, TX:

CHR KAFX Diboll (Lufkin-Nacogdoches) "K-Fox 95-5". Not consistently, but it shows up here often enough. A little tough with K239CB next door pumping out its 250 watts of classic hits. Another one that shows up here is Country KITX Hugo, OK "K 95.5". Not nearly as often as KAFX though.
 
Denver, CO -
A little bit of spillover from local 95.7 KDHT. Not very interesting.

For anything on 95.5, I'd have to go on the other side of the mountains or to the extreme southeast corner of Wyoming.

I've spoken of this station MANY times :)

local from 5am-6pm
local news/talk/polkas from 5-9 (live music Fridays)
classic country from 9-11:25
trading post from 11:25-noon
news from noon-1
polkas from 1-3
oldies (50's/60s) from 3-6

Then the classic country satellite format (Westwood One formerly Dial Global)

Saturdays local from 5am-2pm
Sundays polkas from 5am-11pm sans 3 church services
 
Nothing in either Hartland, VT, or Meriden, CT. Too close to WZLF (95.3) at the current location, too close to WKSS (95.7) at the former one.
 
Wilmington Delaware

Usually just splatter from local WBEN in Philadelphia but WPGC in Morningside MD (DC area) makes occasional appearances.
 
Clifton, New Jersey

I get WPLJ New York, NY. Currently, K-Love is on analog and HD1, Air1 on HD2 and The Bridge on HD3. WPLJ HD3 is a simulcast of 89.7 WRDR Freehold, NJ.

Retro: WPLJ was known for its Album-Oriented Rock (1971-1983), Top 40/CHR (1983-1992) and Hot AC (1992-2019) formats. The call letters have been WPLJ since 1971, except from December 1987 to December 1988 when it was WWPR.
 
Orange County, TX Depending on how the antenna is oriented either KAFX, Diboll, TX of KRRQ Lafayette, LA
 
From Pickerington, Ohio, it's local urban contemporary WXMG "Magic 95.5" with 21,000 watts from about 15 miles southeast. Their tower is prominent off to the west of U.S. 33 near the U.S. 22 exit just outside Lancaster. WXMG, long known as WHOK, is licensed to Lancaster.
It has pretty good reach into the hilly terrain of southeast Ohio and also to the north and west of Columbus. When 95.5 carried the Browns many years back, it was one of the best options for fans between Columbus and Dayton to hear the games.
 
South Mississippi:

tropo conditions usually bring in either
WHLH Jackson, MS - Hallelujah 95.5, or
KRRQ Lafayette, LA - Q95.5 (urban contemporary)

These have been received by E-skip:
KWEN Tulsa, OK - K95.5 Tulsa's New Country Leader
WPGC Morningside, MD - DMV's R&B, Hip Hop, and Throwbacks
 
Central Kentucky: Splatter from WQMF Louisville (95.7) and the Lexington K-Love outlet (95.3).

It takes tropo for me to hear something on this frequency.
That is most often WFMS Indianapolis, WSM FM Nashville or WQHY Prestonsburg.

WQHY covers Easter Kentucky pretty well. It will begin to appear around Natural Bridge on the Mountain Parkway.
I used to listen WQHY a lot when I ran service in Eastern Kentucky. They ran TM Stereo Rock for years.
At one time, it was the only station in Eastern Kentucky not doing either country or bluegrass...

A guy I knew worked in Prestosburg at I think the old WPRT and in Pikeville at WPKE/WDHR

A nice hiss found 24/7 on the shoulder of the upper digital sidechannel of powerhouse 95.3 CING Hamilton ON 20 miles south.
 
In the Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA) area, usually nothing. But I can pull in a faint signal of country WBYL "Bill 95" from Williamsport from my patio with my portable HD radio. However, during tropo openings, WFGY "Froggy 95" from Johnstown, comes in. Sometimes the signal was strong enough I can get their RDS.

Also, during one big tropo opening last October, at first I have received CJOJ "Hits FM", it was not only the farthest signal coming from the northern direction, but was the first Canadian FM station I have received via tropo! Hours later, I also caught WPGC from Washington playing R&B music for a time.
