FM Frequency of the Week - 96.1 MHz

What can you all get on 96.1 FM?

Here in Vermilion, OH it is local WKFM/Huron, OH with country as 'K96' Intense tropo from the NW will cause WHNN/Bay City, MI to be heard underneath them.

On a recent trip to Canton, OH, 96.1 was a fair WKST/Pittsburgh with Top-40 Kiss FM

Good dx frequency in Houston. San Antonio's KXXM (Mix 96.1) CHR, Madisonville's KAGG (serving Bryan/College Station) "Aggie 96" country, and Lake Charles, LA.'s KYKZ "Kicks 96" country all make frequent appearances.

In northern VA, it's I-BLOCK from DC's WHUR 96.3. Before many stations turn on HD many years ago, I once got a low power urban adult station, WTTH; it was called "The Touch"(3 kW or so) from Atlantic City, NJ, and a 96.1 station (currently WBBB) Raleigh, NC, and WROX Cape Charles, VA, on the southern tip of the Delmarva peninsula.

I sometimes hear WSOX Red Lion, PA above the IBOC.

Here in Warminster PA(Philadelphia area), it's usually WCTO(Cat Country) from Easton PA(Lehigh Valley). I have also heard
WTTH from AC and WSOX from Red Lion PA in tropo conditions.

Allendale, MI: Local WMAX with ESPN Radio

Manistee, MI: Probably one of the most wide open frequencies.
It's usually between these four:
WMAX Holland, MI
WHNN Bay City, MI
W241AG Sheboygan, WI
WTCX Ripon, WI

In Saratoga Springs, NY....Sometimes WSRS, Worcester, Ma....but mostly adjacent channel interference from 95.9-WCQL Glens Falls, NY and 96.3-WAJZ Albany, NY.

Down on the Texas Gulf Coast between Houston and Victoria we listen to 96.1 KIOX-FM for some hot Texas country music. I think the station is in either Edna or El Campo Texas.

Edna it is, and you're right. It's quite good. We listen to it when we make trips to Goliad to visit my wife's parents. Great tribute to the original KIOX, and terrific sounding mom and pop outfit serving the greater Victoria area. Glad you mentioned it as I forgot to post it originally.

WBBB Raleigh in Danville. WHQC in Shelby possible if WBBB went off the air. WBBB and WHQC would battle in Greensboro dial.

96.1 here in Monroe is a mix of CHKG Vancouver BC and KXXO Olympia WA.
E-skip has brought KSME Greeley, CO (CHR), KQHT Crookston, MN (Classic Rock), KSTR Montrose, CO (Classic Rock) and KWRK Window Rock, AZ (Country).

In Yakima, WA it's mainly KLKY Stanfield, OR with classic rock (U-Rock).

Here in Escanaba Michigan in the U.P. this is probably the most open frequency I have here in town. I use this frequency all the time to get Meteor scatter because it is so open. As far as the stations I can get though here is the list.
WTCX Ripon WI
WXYM Tomah WI
W241AG Sheboygan WI
WMAX Holland MI
WJMC Rice Lake WI
WHNN Bay City MI

This is how wide open this frequency is for me.

In Atascadero, CA it was/is KSLY. It was "Cat Country" when I lived there and was old enough to notice (mid-late '00s, early '10s) but now simulcasts "Sunny Country" from a 102.5, forget where though...
