FM Frequency of the Week: 97.7

Tyler, TX:

KALK Winfield "K-Lake 97.7" with classic hits. Fair enough signal, but it suffers a lot from local KTBB-FM @ 97.5 slopping over on to it. How KTBB-FM got the approval to move up here that close to the already established KALK is, to this day, a head scratcher.

Melbourne FL

97.7 is generally overshadowed by WPCV 97.5

97.7 WWXM Garden City SC Mix 97.7 Contemporary hits 2014 during enhanced conditions

Wilmington Delaware

WAFL Milford DE 'Eagle 97.7' with a fair signal. There are no strong signals on 97.5 or 97.9 here so the Class A station survives the 70 mile trip up N without any adjacent interference. It has held the same format (HOT-AC) for as long as I can remember.

Hartland, VT:

WSNI Keene, NH, adult contemporary "Sunny 97.7",

Meriden, CT:

W249DY Waterbury, translator for full-service WATR (1320).

Nutley, NJ

I have to start keeping a log. I'm confident I never caught anything on 97.7 but I'm also sure I caught WAFL from Milford, DE during an opening back a few Summers ago.

NW WA state

Class C CBUF (98kW from 600+ meters HAAT.) Loud and clear CBC news/talk in French. Makes little sense to me, other than what I can pick up via my rudimentary Spanish language skills.

Part of the "CBU" family up here:
CBU 690 CBC1 N/T in English
CBU-2-FM 88.1 Class C simulcast of CBU
CBU-FM 105.7 Class C CBC2 (Music- English, generally, though a fair amount of First Nations)
CBUX 90.9 Class C1 CBC French Music service. (Oddly the Victoria "translator" is much stronger than the Vancouver "main" so that is where I can get my fix of variety French language Musique.)
CBUT The original "See Butt" channel 2- CBC English TV (Seen on pretty much all the cable systems in W WA, and of course OTA in NW WA- this is where Seattle gets its "other" Olympics coverage. And, of course, curling)
CBUFT CBC French TV

No nearby licensed stations, but I received WAFL "Eagle 97.7" Milford, DE once during tropo. That was on September 8, 2020.

You probably did. I received WAFL in 2020, but haven't been able to since. It's a challenging frequency for me to DX.

Denver, CO -
Translator K249EX, yet another Lookout Mountain translator that covers maybe half of Denver well, simulcasting Spanish-language 1280 KBNO "Que Buena", regional Mexican (I think). K249EX is further handicapped by having to protect KPLS-FM Strasburg, on the same channel, on the eastern plains not so far from Denver. The east end of Colfax Avenue, a major thoroughfare through Lakewood, Denver, Aurora, etc. is actually in Strasburg. I haven't received KPLS-FM...yet. It has a CP to upgrade from C3 to C2 status, which may make reception at my east Denver location more likely under the right circumstances. KPLS-FM is simulcast on 1510 KPLS in Denver, about which see: https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/am-frequency-of-the-week-1510.771343/post-6717029

Central Kansas:
Blank frequency locally, though KSNP/Burlington makes an occasional visit.

North Iowa:
Mostly bleedover from adjacent channel KCMR/Mason City, though KCRR/Grundy Center occasionally sneaks in.

Central Kentucky:

W249DJ translator for WWTF 1580 Georgetown/Lexington with an Alternative Rock format. "WTF 97.7".
The 1580 frequency here is part of the I Heart Lexington cluster.

The 1580 frequency here has been FOTW " Format of the Week". Despite the 10KW day signal, every format has been tried over many years, with limited success, but maybe will enjoy some success with the Alt Rock format and the 97.7 translator

That signal gets to Knoxville and I heard it on an SDR near the tri-cities.

In the Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA) area, it's mostly bleedover from adjacent 97.9 WBSX Hazleton, but during tropo openings, WVRT "V-97", an IHeart CHR station from Mill Hall/Williamsport, comes in despite all the interference, but is best heard outside in my patio using a very good radio like the Sparc. WVRT is also heard on 99.7 WVRZ from Mount Carmel, which can be picked up depending on time of day.

I've heard in the late afternoon at my daughter's house in Winston Salem NC as well as NE Georgia, and Charlotte.
There's a poster on here, that has received it in south Mississippi.
When it was WAXU and Lexingtons primary country station in the 60s &70s, it had very good coverage of Central and Eastern Kentucky
