FM Frequency of the Week: 98.1

In Carmichael

It's nothing, But in the Summertime

K251CE (Yuba City) KUBA can be heard

While I was living in Citrus Heights in the Summer

KISQ San Franciso 98.1 The Breeze
K251CE (Yuba City) KUBA
K251CA (Sacramento) KJAY

Mixing in most of the Time, But KISQ gets better of the other 2

In Vallejo, It's all KISQ San Francisco

DX/Retro, In Pacifica in the 80's it was KABL

A station group in Parkersburg, WV has Scott Shannon’s “True Oldies Channel” on 98.1, one of the two translators of its newly-built 1450 AM. One of the co-owners started his career on that frequency, which has had quite a history, being that city’s first radio station, established in 1935.

East Tennessee: W251BR, translator for WFGW. Before this translator signed on, it was a tossup between WBUL, Lexington, and WAZT, Williamson SC. It had a great signal in a vacation cabin in Gatlinburg.
Retro/other: West Central Ohio, Now a solid signal from WDFM in Defiance, but before it signed on, Then-WKQQ, Lexington, was a frequent visitor.

From Cheyenne, WY:

Basically HD splatter from 97.9 KXBG. Occasionally, tropo from 98.1 KKFM Colorado Springs (165 miles) can overcome this splatter.

South Mississippi:

Eagle 98.1 WDGL Baton Rouge, LA (classic rock), and News Radio 98.1 WMXI Laurel, MS is common a bit further north.

Northeast New Jersey: Typically WSKQ HD hash. WOGL comes in and out when the HD is off.

Tropo brings in W251BY Patchogue, NY, WOGL Philly, and a strong WCTK New Bedford, MA (once or twice in the summer)

From San Jose, California

75,000 Watts, KISQ, San Francisco. Down here in the south bay, its not as strong, but the best I can say is, it's adequate

Mankato, MN its KBEW Blue Earth
Country

Get a few miles north of town and WWJO St Cloud comes in
(WWJO is one of 3 Class C stations in MN that is not in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. The other 2 are KCLD 104.7 St Cloud and KNXR 97.5 Rochester)

Hartland, VT:
AC WJJR Rutland.
Back in Connecticut, country WCTK New Bedford/Providence was a frequent visitor when conditions were good.

Central Kansas:
I’ve occasionally received KMBZ-FM/Kansas City (Kansas!), though it’s an open frequency otherwise.

North Iowa:
Bleedover from adjacent channel KCMR/Mason City; KBEW/Blue Earth and KHAK/Cedar Rapids will show up if you have some distance from ‘CMR’s RF cloud.
