FM Frequency of The Week: 99.7

Back to the Charleston guy,, Yeah that used to be a CHR back in the 80s and early 90s, and could also be heard as far north as Myrtle Beach,, perhaps even farther North,, It sounded like a local at time in Myrtle WHTK I think it was called.. They played Killer music at the time too.. Its a wonder what being on an island and having the advantage of Salt Water Skip can do. Now days u cant hear it at Myrtle,, Im not sure why,, it should be closer,, but perhaps its cause Myrtle has a 99.5.

It was a Savannah market station then. It was a great station.

I remember WHTK from Hilton Head Island, but had no idea they are a Charleston station now. When did that move take place?

99.7 here in the Knoxville, TN area is one of the rare open frequencies on which we can use an FM transmitter! If a station does come in, it's usually WWTN from Manchester or WWWQ from Atlanta.

From Coldwater, MI-

Mostly a weak, but readable WUGN from Midland, MI. Sometimes WKSD from Paulding, OH sneaks in.

Tropo brings in..
WSHW- Frankfort, IN
WRKZ- Columbus, OH
WZDR- Sturgeon Bay, WI
WSHH- Pittsburgh, PA
WXAJ- Springfield, IL

One time I heard CIYN-1, a 750-watt relay station from Kincardine, Ontario!

Vermilion, OH:
99.7 FM is usually a very weak WUGN/Midland, MI with a Christian Format 'Family Life Radio'. Once in a while WRKZ/Columbus, OH will pop up with a hard rock alternative format. Heard Pittsburgh's 'Wish 99.7' a couple of times during unusual tropo from the south/southeast. Some IBOC from WGAR on 99.5 makes it a bit more challenging to DX 99.7.

I'll add a couple more

Pacific Beach, WA: 99.7 here is KLMY Long Beach, WA with Hot AC, "My 99.7".

Portland, OR: IBOC/splatter from KWJJ 99.5
