FM Frequency of the Week - 99.9 MHz

What do you all get on 99.9 FM?

Here in Vermilion, OH 99.9 is mainly WKKO/Toledo, OH (country 'K100'). I have also heard the following:

CFGX/Sarnia, ON (AC 'The Fox') via tropo and also when nulling out WKKO
WDKF/Dayton, OH (Caught a piece of it using the Tecsun PL-390 and nulling out WKKO)
WXKC/Erie, PA ('Classy 100' AC) via tropo

Kind of interesting in far West Houston. One of those frequencies where you can get different things by pointing an antenna in different directions.

By far the dominant station is WACO in - Waco TX. One of those rare coincidences of call letters.
Other than that, KSHN Liberty, TX. Occasional signals from the Southwest - either country or Spanish.

Bothell/Bellevue, WA it's KISW Seattle [Rock].

In Portland, OR it was mostly KRKT Albany, OR, although weak and staticky.

In Yakima, WA it's KHHK 99.7 slop in some areas, and in others, KXLY Spokane, WA [Country].

In East Tyler a little southwest of Tyler, the usual station is country KMOO-FM in Mineola (gotta love those call letters). Tropo often brings in another country station, a very good one with great call letters, too: WACO-FM ("Waco-100")...from Waco, of course.

Here in the Philadelphia area, it's usually semi-local WODE-FM ("99.9 The Hawk") from Easton PA.
In tropo situations, I have received WEZN from Bridgeport CT and WWFG from Ocean City MD.

Northern VA,

WFRE up in Frederick, MD, semilocal with a country format, and during one tropo, I've gotten inspirational WYFJ Ashland, VA, (Richmond area) with the class A signal. It moved from 100.1 to 99.9 a few years ago. Owned by BBN, with kiddie religious programs on Saturday mornings.

30 miles south of Indianapolis, I'm halfway between WHKO Dayton,OH and WTHI Terre Haute,IN. A simple turn of the antenna gets either one fine. WVLC Mannsville,KY is there most of the time as well. I do keep an eye to the southeast on that frequency for WKSF, Old Fort, NC. That one pops in at least once a year at 320 miles.

Here in South Philly, it's usually WODE 99.9 from Easton. :)

But in North Philly that's an everyday catch.

Near Farmville, VA:
Antenna pointed east = WYFJ 99.9, Ashland/Richmond, VA (BBN)
Antenna pointed southwest = WZBB 99.9, Stanleytown, VA (Country Format)

West of Indy by 9 miles, WTHI is an easy catch. I have picked up WCPQ-Park Forest, IL (Kankakee, IL). At the time, they were playing oldies, and my wife loved them.

From Gary, IN I get WCPQ Park Forest, IL. I also get WHFB Benton Harbor, MI during the summer months, due to both 50kw stations being short-spaced. This has always been a problem for those who listen to 99.9 (regardless of format).

Here in Altamonte there is nothing strong on 99.9. The right conditions can bring in country from jacksonville or talk from wxjb. Not exactly sure on the location but I remember catching the call letters. They kept refering to the nature coast.

About 5 years ago in Oregon, I've gotten KRKT in the Roseburg, OR area with a weak signal along with some slop from Family Radio's monster 100.1 translator on a mountain east of Roseburg. Roseburg is about 90 miles N of the CA border.

Here In McKinney, TX just a little North of Dallas,
If its not my station, its WACO 100 in Waco, TX or a Translator in Irving.

Is your station unlicensed or stream only? It's non-existent on Radio-Locator.

Far northwest suburban Chicago....

99.9 is occupied here by WJVL, Janesville, WI.  Weak signal.

It's a fun channel here in suburban Rochester NY - aim the antenna NW and I get CKFM Toronto ("Virgin 999"), aim it SE and I get WIII Cortland-Ithaca ("I-100"). When the trop is really kicking, I can aim SW and hear WXKC Erie PA, but that's very rare.
