That frequency has changed alot in Durham, North Carolina, since I've been logging FM reception for the past 18-19 years.

Prior to 2005, the most frequent catch on 99.9 MHz was either WVBS in Burgaw, NC, approximately 120-130 miles SSE of Durham with 100kW (This station later became WKXB) or WFXQ in Chase City, Virginia (about 70-75 miles NE of Durham with 25 kW. In Raleigh, there was a translator station, W260AB, that rebroadcasted a Wilson, NC-licensed WAHD 90.5 (which oddly enough didn't even but a city grade over that community). This could sometimes be heard in Durham.

In 2005, Capitol Broadcasting Company, which owns the WRAL stations among others here, bought the Chase City station, moved it to Creedmoor, NC, and signed it on as country station WCMC--at reduced power as to avoid interfering with WKXB/Burgaw. A few years later, Capitol later bought a bunch of Wilmington, NC stations-including WKXB. WKXB was relicensed to Boiling Spring Lakes, NC and its power dropped significantly (not much of an issue in the relatively geographically compact Wilmington market), then moved WCMC--now the RDU market's dominant sports talk station-- to Holly Springs, NC with 25 kW from the WRAL analog TV tower.

Other catches in Durham on 99.9 included:
WKSF, Old Fort, NC
KLUR, Wichata Falls, TX
WWFG, Ocean City, MD
KTCS, Fort Smith, AR
KSAB, Robstown, TX
WZBB, Stanleytown, VA
KGOR, Omaha, NE
KAUS, Austin, MN
KVOX, Moorhead, MN
WUSZ, Hibbing, MN
WKKO, Toledo, OH

Here in Altamonte there is nothing strong on 99.9. The right conditions can bring in country from jacksonville or talk from wxjb. Not exactly sure on the location but I remember catching the call letters. They kept refering to the nature coast.

That's out of Homosassa, which I enjoy saying. Homosassa. :D

The Nature Coast is the nine counties between Clearwater and St. Marks.

Here in the Mobile area all I get is local "Lite Mix 99.9" WMXC. Since I can practically see their tower from here there's no chance of ever getting anything else.

In Bellingham, WA, mostly an unlistenable KISW Seattle. With appearances (depending where you are in the area) of CBU-FM7, Chilliwack, BC and more rarely on a lucky hill, CHPQ Parksville, BC
