"FM News" On IQ 106.9

I think the Bala reference is to WPHT. WPHT and WOGL are in Bala while the rest of the CBS stations are in the city.

Ah - I hadn't thought of WPHT's location...and that makes sense.

They were just barely audible up in Reading when I thought to tune in at 9 AM today.

Yeah but the GM cluster is also based in Bala
But, 106.9 is not programming against any of the GM stations. They DO think they are going head to head against one of the CBS stations located in Bala.

It a shame to see a Major Market station acting like a small or medium market station. Even Clear Channel has both a local morning show and a local newscaster on it's 1,000 station in Wilmington. News and Traffic from New York, on the bird all day except for the morning show. I expect this from WNTP AM 990, OR WILM in Wilmington, but from a NEW Major Market station. Barter is cheap, I how their rate card is small/medium market too.

Or is this simply the current sorry state of commercial major-market radio in the multiplatform era?

I took a listen this morning. Seemed to mainly concintrate on the one story about the fire. Traffic was good, but after 9 AM the new traffic said how everything was fine. uh, ain't no way i was thinkin that could be the case, so i jumped to KYW to check out what they were sayin. it sounded more in line with what was goin on on the blueroute. IQ went from sayin how messed up it was to how totaly fine all the roads was. Do they jump from live traffic reporting to taped after 9 AM? I dunno if KYW talked 'bout the fire, but it seemed like KYW covers more stuff. Hillery semed to do local reporting this morning (when she was reporting, but between the traffic and the fire, there wasnt much. Al said how this was there first big story, and how everyone handled it well.
