FM radio cellphone interference question

When ever I ride my bike with my wlkman cliped onto the back of my belt and my cellphone cliped onto my belt as well and have been noticing that every now and then I get this annoying pulsing buzzing sound like a rhythmic dum-diddy-dum-diddy-dum---- sound. What cuases my radio to make that sound. It happens only when I have or fixing to receive a call.

Thanks

Fifty bucks says it is a Nextel......

Those buzzing/chirping noises are a common sound to anyone with amplified PC speakers on their desk. I've even heard these cell phone noises on the audio of an interview -- I guess the person being interviewed had their cell phone too close to the tape recorder.

My Cingular phone causes that kind of sound also. Apparently when my phone is going to ring, or when another Cingular phone being covered by the same "cell" is about to ring.

My Cingular phone (Motorola RAZR) sits next to my computer monitor (Sony Trinitron) and it causes waves across the screen every time it contacts the network, either when it is preparing to receive a call or when I initiate a call, but not when I'm talking (on Bluetooth headset-- the phone stays clipped on the shelf next to the monitor). It will also cause the windshield wipers in my car to start operating with the switch in the 'off' position if I put the phone near the switch and it will cause the 'bippidy-bipp-bipp-bipp' sound if I place it on the dash above the radio.

All phones will do this, no matter what service you are on. I hear it all the time on the radio when some lame board-op or DJ sets his phone down on the console or near any equipment that is in the audio chain. I hear it on cable TV channels as well, with alarming frequency. Shut off your phone or keep it away from the gear.

Cheap asian junk like Walkmans and portable radios are especially sensitive to cellphone radiation, but even multi-thousand dollar professional broadcast gear (which is generally well sheilded) becomes succeptible if you get your phone close enough.

PCS network cellphones do not usually suffer from the RFI, the only time my phone gets "noisy" like that is when I'm roaming on verizon altell or the old AT&T analog network....

PCS celphones work around 2.4 GHz where as CDMA is around 800-1.5GHz
