FM Radio On Service Electric Cable !!!

I mentioned this once before when the topic came up. Once upon a time it was common for cable companies to carry radio stations, but I don't know that's still the case. Many years ago someone told me that there were two ways to get, 1) Call the cable company and pay for it, 2) Simply split your TV cable and run one of the splits into the antenna inputs on the back of your receiver. On a whim, I gave it a shot, I stripped the co-ax, that was it. It worked - there were dozens of NY, Philly, and I believe, Baltimore stations on the cable. Now, what's really odd is that I checked with the cable company about radio service and was told none was available. To this day I have no explanation.

Basically, it boils down to a re-transmission agrement. The FMs want more $ than the Cable OPs are willing to pay. Remember, it's cable TV. My advice; get a large outdoor antenna.

I used to listen to Philly FM's all the time, as well as a favorite Allentown station. I figured it was within the passband of their gear and went along with the ride. I haven't had the opportunity to do it lately, since WFLN dropped classical.

RK -- That Service Electric list you linked is not what we get in Greater Metropolitan Wilkes-Barre.

Don't remember what's below 92.1...

aside from locals...

92.5 WXTU
93.3 WMMR
94.1 WYSP
94.5 WDAC
95.1 WZZO
95.7 WBEN
96.1 WCTO
98.9 WUSL
100.7 WLEV
102.5 WRFY (I think)
102.7 WKSB
104.1 WAEB
104.5 Rumba
106.1 WISX

I may be missing one or two more... haven't scanned the SECTV WB dial lately.

Does anyone know if COMCAST carry FM stations on their network also?
That's what I have. If COMCAST carries out of market FM stations, I'd subscribe to cable once again.

Does A N Y O N E know if COMCAST carries FM stations?

there's a mom and pop cable company covering parts of pottsville that still carries a bunch of FM stations. i think the company is called 'wire tele view.' google them and check it out.

They didn't a couple of years ago when they were Adelphia. Doubt much if things changed. Take the coax from your tv and touch it to an FM receiver with an antenna or antenna terminal to find out!

Service Electric WB has done this for years. It used to make going to work at my WB job bearable. But, that was 7+ years ago.

OK, right away I gotta take issue with some of the listings on the "radio lineup":

WAXQ
91.5
Classic Rock Rock

Isn't this 104.3? Is this "moved" to 91.5 because of WNNJ?

WSBG
93.5
Rock and Hits

They need to change this... They still have 92.3 listed as WXRK/active rock so that saves them a job...

WNYC
93.9
Live am/fm internet steams digital

Now that's a bass-ackwards description if I ever seen one...

WZO
95.1
Rock

Ugh, missed a Z...

WPW
95.5
Hot Adult Contemp.

Huh? Is this supposed to be WPLJ?
