From where I sat in section 207, I noticed a radio tower beyond right center field. It must have been for WMGX-FM 93.1 because they were the only station I heard on two or three other empty spots on the dial. I switched the button over to CITY and much of that interference went away.

Thank you many times over Andy! I used to live in Old Orchard Beach and the biggies like 93.1, 94.3, 95.9, 97.9, 100.9, 101.9 and 102.9 are really easy to ID. Back then, WBLM was on 107.5 and 102.9 was Top 40 "FM 103". The call letters of 102.9 had just switched from WGAN-FM to WTHT the week I moved back to Connecticut (June of 1987). Also, 105.9 FM Bath/Brunswick was then WIGY-FM and was a Top 40 outlet. I used to listen to American Top 40 every Saturday afternoon!

As for Hadlock Field, my last visit before this week was on Memorial Day in 2002. The Wolf (Country) was on 107.5 FM at that time and had a claw logo in center field (where a FOX 23 ad is placed now).

New Britain lost in a slugfest 15-11. It was my first time inside in 6 years. It was only natural to make the trip since I used to live in Old Orchard Beach, back when they had a AAA baseball team there (Maine Guides). I think they used to be aired on then-WHYR-FM 95.9 of Saco? Once, back in the spring of 1987, Dwight Gooden was making a rehab start for the Norfolk Tides, then the AAA affiliate of the New York Mets. The Ballpark was beyond packed...until a big t-storm blew through during the evening! That night's game was carried by NBC Channel 6. I joked to my brother about them not being in stereo at the time. The audio on the radio (95.9 FM) was only slightly better, actually. In this case, it was a simulcast of channel 6 itself, minus their commercials, of course! ::)

The remainder of the holes on your list, and the call sign for the translators is.
89.3 WMSJ Freeport
92.5 W223BH Portland
98.3 W252BT Freeport
104.1 W281AC Portland
104.7 WHXQ Kennebunkport
107.9 W300BN Portland

Thanks guys! Sometimes it's hard to hear these stations at the ball park, even with full sized Sony headphones on. As for the game itself, the Seadogs flagship these days is WBAE-AM 1490, partnered with WVAE-AM 1400 of Biddeford. However, the only time I had my radio on the AM side was to check WGAN-AM 560 of Portland, to see if they would update a serious camper fire on I-95 (Maine Turnpike) South in Saco that had the highway closed, causing a backup of almost 5 miles.

Here in New Britain, our flagship is WDRC-AM 1360 of Hartford, whose signal is so-so at the ballpark. Sadly, with a weekday day game (today as an example), the only station carrying them is WMMW-AM 1470 of Meriden. It barely comes in at the ballpark, thanks to them being a 1,000 watt station. How can we promote our team when WDRC-AM is more interested in airing their normal talk lineup instead? Geez! :(

Andy,
Living under a 3,000 watt cooker of 96.7 WCTZ Stamford CT I can sugest to use a sangean walkmen. Those things cut out RF and gets the ones that I used to get interference on my panasonic and Sony Walkman's of which I have had many.
The same goes when I am on the train under WEBE 108 FM Bridgeport CT smoke stack antenna trying to listen to 92.3 K-rock from NYC also watching the Bridgeport BlUUUUEEEEEEFISH!!!

I will leave with one last off topic note: Gas prices and many other things have changed but, the Vermonter Train to CT is still only $30 from VT

Miss the countryside Hope all is well in the north-country

Anybody else here do this sort of thing when they're at the ball park? I attempted to the same thing last September 1st (making an FM list) while visiting McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI. I'm not sure where that list went. I guess I could try New Hampshire (Manchester) next? LOL! :)
