Thank you for the updates and corrections! I had done one of these reports from September of 2009, while staying at a different Portland hotel. I know a handful of stations there, as I used to live in Old Orchard Beach back in the mid-1980s.

What surprised me was the Mount Washington Information station on 95.3 FM from North Conway, NH. Not too far down the coast is 95.3 FM, licensed to York. I didn't get a trace of them in Portland.

I'm surprised too because that's a 250 watt translator from North Conway, yet several Portland area FMs that put decent signals in to the area couldn't be received: 95.5 WLOB from Brunswick, 99.3 from (I think) Saco or Kennebunk which simulcasts 96.9/99.9, 104.7 W Bach from Kennebunkport and 93.9 from Lewiston, which carries Air 1 come to mind, along with a couple more translators.

Thats odd, I remember then having a pretty good signal north. Maybe they were off the air?

I've usually been able to get 95.3 WSKX sounding great up through about the Portland Jetport, but that's on a car radio. If 104.7 and the other York County signals were completely missing on the Walkman scan, not surprised 95.3 wouldn't be there either.

Also, 90.1 FM is NPR affiliate WMEA Portland - the flagship of MPBN's radio service. WMPG Gorham is 90.9 FM.

Must've been. I'm up in the Portland area quite often, and WSKX always comes in fine.

I was on the 4th floor. Granted, there was a bit of in-town interference. The headphone cord had to be down a bit. Also, if I switched the "Walkman" to CITY mode, that station would be gone completely.
